Chapter Seven

As I slowly forced my eyes open, I could hear a loud cracking and splitting, the base was beginning to split, and I needed to get off it. I could feel Kylo in the force, he was unconscious, and I sighed as I realised, I had to rescue him first. I gasped in pain as I pushed myself off the floor to get up and go and find him.

I thanked the gods as I came across a large black mass in the snow, his face was split to the bone and bloody. I tried to pull him up under his arms, but he was too heavy and I was too weak to drag him, I used the force to help carry him back to his ship to get back to the Finalizer. I hadn't flown it before but I felt a draw towards it. Staring at the controls I somehow knew what to do.

The flight was  smoother than I was used to, Kylo and the other pilots flew like a young pilot that had just gotten their licence. They always seemed to be in a rush to get to wherever they were going, and I always felt sick during flights.

I looked behind to see that he was still unconscious which worried me. I wondered how much damage she'd done to him. But why did I care? It wasn't like it was my fault she got away again, but I knew Snoke would punish us both for the failure.

Before I lined the ship up to land I commed ahead for the med bay to meet us in the hangar to take away Kylo. The relief amongst the staff was almost funny, they were pleased to see that he wasn't awake so it meant he couldn't inflict pain upon them or have a tantrum. I wanted to get back to my quarters to wash the sweat and the blood off me but Hux intercepted me as soon as I stepped off the ship behind Kylo on the stretcher.

"He failed again" Hux sneered wickedly, he took pleasure in any of Kylo's failures he truly hated him. "Snoke will punish him for this, I hope I get to watch it this time"

"it's such a shame that you take such pleasure in another's pain, because that's all you've ever known being one big disappointment." I snapped at him, my voice full of venom.

He slapped my face hard and my cheek stung, immediately without thinking I reacted, his body flew up into the air and crashed back down as hard as I could throw him. There was a sickening crunch and a scream from him, satisfied I grinned and walked back to my quarters. Whatever punishment I received for hurting Hux would surely be worth this small piece of satisfaction.

I enjoyed the long shower as the hot water washed away the blood and dirt I'd picked up during the fight. As I got out, I saw that there was a message on my data pad to go to the infirmary immediately, Kylo must have woken up then. I was in no rush to see how he is, so I dried and dressed carefully, braiding, my wet hair and pulled on my cloak.

The infirmary was in chaos as I arrived, it was worse than I'd imagined, he had woken up and he'd been throwing people around in his fit of rage.

"Please subdue him" the Doctor begged, and I waved a hand which made Kylo fall back down onto his bed. He must have really been hurt, usually he would have put up a fight. Under the bright lights I could see how bad his wounds really were. The facial injury was by far the worst, the skin had split the full length of his face and his skull was exposed. I lifted his tunic to look at the blaster shot in his side which was oozing blood and the air was thick with the smell of burnt skin.

The nurse closest to me misinterpreted my inspection of his wounds, I didn't care that he was hurt I just wanted to see how much damage the rebels had caused. The scavenger was so poorly skilled and yet she managed to bring down Kylo Ren.

"He'll be alright after a few days in the bacta" The nurse stroked my arm to comfort me.

"I know, com me if you need me again" I limped away, one of the doctors had noticed my discomfort.
