Chapter Eight

After I few days of rest I went to the gym where the knights had already arrived, they were lifting weights as I entered. My eyes widened at the weights they could lift, it was incredible how strong they were. If I tried what they were lifting my arms would have been ripped out of their sockets. Ushar helped set me up on a much lower weight, and to make sure I maintained proper form.

After a few repetitions he took the bar away from me.

"Now, combat. You need to continue weight training, but combat is the most important. Being able to analyse your opponent and counteract them is how you win the battle. With none force users it's easy, they are so easy to read and predict. But with us and Ren you'll struggle. Hit me, go on. Full force"

I hesitated. "I don't think that's a good idea"

"Scared you'll hurt me?" He teased, sending the other knights into an uproar of laughter.

"No, I don't want to get killed"

"I'm not that prick Hux, now come on" He pulled his armour off. "I'll make it easier for you"

I watched him carefully anticipating the best way to bluff him, I went to turn left but dodged right. He saw straight through my attack, he blocked my arm and grabbed my wrist pinning it behind my back.

"So predictable." He laughed. "Put up a barrier on your mind and don't make your bluff so obvious"

"It's hard to do both at the same time." I argued.

He gestured for me to go again, and so I did but time and time again he saw through my bluffs.

"You need to clear your mind, this needs to be a fluid motion so that you don't need to think about it"

"It's easy for you to say, you're a trained warrior. Hand to hand combat wasn't covered in princess school weirdly." I rolled my eyes.

My sarcasm brought a roar of laughter in the room and it made me feel good, it gave me the lift of energy I needed.

"Let's go again" I smiled enthusiastically.

This time I cleared my mind and just moved my body without thought, I kicked his shin hard which made his legs buckle. I pushed his shoulders down and kicked him in the groin hard, he grunted and collapsed.

"She fights dirty!" One of the other knights exclaimed with a roar of laughter

"That wasn't fair." Ushar moaned in pain on the floor.

"You didn't say anything about it being a fair fight, I exploited your weakness." I smiled wickedly.

"Next time, I wear my armour." Ushar grunted.

"What, you don't want to go again?"

"Hell no, Vicrul you're up."

The Knight stood up and made his way over to me.

"I'll keep my armour on." He said gruffly.

"Helmet off." Ushar ordered.

He removed his helmet and I was amazed by his appearance he his face isn't what I expected him to look like. For starters he was blonde like me, and for a warrior he was beautiful surely his face was too symmetrical considering how many battles he'd been in. Maybe this was why he wore the helmet? It made me wonder what the other Knights looked like, was it a weird rule that they all must be attractive too?

With a lot of effort I forced my plan behind a mental barrier, and readied myself to strike him on his side. But I focused too much of my effort onto blocking him out that my own moves were slow and clumsy, he quickly intercepted my attack. Holding my arm back with the force, but he was careful not to hurt me.
