Chapter Fourteen

When Kylo led me into the main hall there was a roar of cheers from the crowd, I looked out to all of their faces. These were the elite of the first order, the Generals, their wives and the head storm troopers. I desperately looked out to see if I could spot any of my family, I knew they had been demoted of their royal titles but there was a small bit of hope in me that they might be here.

"Your family aren't here, they aren't even on the planet." Kylo whispered to me.

A wave of sadness and disappointment flooded through me.

"The first order is your family now." He murmured quietly squeezing my hand.

I stared at him blankly, a family wouldn't purposely harm and punish its own members.

"May I present Commander Ren and his wife the new Lady Ren." Snoke boomed from a throne at the top table in the hall. How typical of his ego, the bride and groom should be the centre of attention but of course he would demand a throne at a wedding.

Kylo led me to the top table to where my dismay sat General Hux, Phasma, Snoke and a woman I didn't know who sat next to Hux. Why couldn't the Knights have sat next to us? At least some of them are capable of having fun.

"Stop pouting" Kylo warned. "You should be happy to be marrying so well."

"Are you happy?"

"Yes." He lied.

I rolled my eyes and pulled an extra fake happy face, if they wanted happy, I would give them a pantomime performance. Kylo pulled my chair out for me and I sat, he helped push it back in which was a struggle with this ridiculous dress. His strange chivalry made me laugh, it was obvious he'd been told to do this to keep a good public face.

"Mrs Ren, I must say again you are truly a beautiful bride." Hux said smugly, I smiled politely back at him. "This is my girlfriend Adrienne." He turned to look at the beautiful brunette that was sat beside him, she smiled meekly.

"Pleasure to meet you." I nodded.

"Maybe one day we'll have a wedding this beautiful" Hux said to her, squeezing her hand tightly.

This display was so awkward to watch, I could feel his dates unease, and, in her head, I could see he was paying her to be here. She was no more than actress to him, she was way too beautiful for him anyway.

"So Phasma where is your date?" Hux asked with a sneer, he was such a disgusting little toad.

"I don't date, I don't want anything to get in the way of my serving the first order." She replied harshly.

"Plus, there is no man taller than you anyway." He burst into laughter which no one else on the table joined in with.

"Don't be cruel" I warned him.

"Ren you need to control your wife, she needs reminding of her place."

"Leave Phasma and Aurora alone." Ren sighed, clenching his fists on top of the table.

Thankfully this awkward small talk was interrupted by the arrival of food, I hadn't eaten all day, but my corset was so restrictive I doubted I could eat much anyway. I managed a few spoonful's of the soup and a couple bites of the main. No one seemed to care much that I wasn't eating, the cameras weren't showing the wedding reception.

Korthina came over to our table after the meal.

"I'm sorry Commander Ren I am borrowing your wife for a short while." She smiled and he shrugged at her in response.
