Chapter Twelve.

To my surpise Phasma escorted me back to my quarters after training, I'd never spoken to her before.

"Lady Ren." She nodded.

I rolled my eyes, I couldn't be bothered arguing the formalities of my current title.

"Lady Ren, General Hux has arranged for a pre-wedding evening for you." She announced as we made our way back to my quarters.

I rolled my eyes. "Really?"

"Yes, your quarters have been reassembled and your guests are waiting there"

"Who gave the permission for my quarters to be rearranged?" Anger flew through me did I not deserve an ounce of privacy.

"General Hux, did. Be grateful and don't make your guests wait."

I sighed  I was so not in the mood to entertain. Particularly not dressed in my sweaty robes after training.

What sat in my quarters were my worst nightmare, the high-ranking officers and generals' wives.

"It's the future Lady Ren." One of them beamed at me. "Now dear why don't you go and freshen up and the fun can begin."

I turned and rolled my eyes, the fun can begin? I'd rather stick hot pins into my eyes than spend an evening with these brain washed idiots. I took my time in the shower and drying my hair, at least they couldn't complain that I wasn't making an effort for this stupid charade. I pulled on a black long-sleeved dress, it was the plainest I'd been given by the order but it'd do. I didn't want them to think I was making too much of an effort for these mindless robots.

"There she is!" Another of the women cheered when I came back into the living room. "How are you feeling Mrs Ren have the nerves kicked in yet?"

I hadn't really thought about that side of things yet, I did suppose that for a normal couple by now I'd expect to feel something. I'd probably be excited to spend the rest of my life with my loving husband, maybe I'd be nervous about the ceremony. But now I didn't feel anything, I wasn't nervous because I didn't care about this marriage. To me it wasn't real, we weren't to spend the rest of our lives together, we'd end up killing the other, or we'd die on a mission or I'd manage to escape. This whole spectacle tomorrow was purely for show, to show the strength of the order.

"Not just yet." I replied, it wasn't a complete lie as I didn't expect to feel any nerves as the ceremony drew closer.

"You will tomorrow, I almost threw up when I married General May." One of the wives giggled.

"What is your dress like?" Another asked eagerly.

"I haven't seen it." I replied again this was a lie, I had that hideous dress fitting, but I hadn't taken any of the details to mind. I didn't really care for it, it wasn't a practical garment. Nor was it my choice of dress, I'd dreamed of the perfect dress as a child and now I couldn't care less.

"Really?" They chimed in unison shocked.

"Oh I dreamed all of my life about my wedding and my dress and you are lucky enough to be having the most high profile wedding of them all!" One of them exclaimed.

It must have seemed so strange to them, if any of them had been chosen to marry Ren they'd be over the moon. It's harder to get more superior than him unless Snoke chose to inflict himself on a victim. It would be a guaranteed easy life for them, they'd live in luxury and only be expected to be the perfect wife. Bare a few children, keep the home, attend events and at a push throw a few parties. What a dull existence, but to them it would put them straight to the top of their pathetic wives club.

"What about your honeymoon? Where are you going?" Another chirped in.

"I don't know if we are having one, I don't think the Supreme Leader can spare us for so long." I replied honestly, but I did wonder if we'd be allowed any time off as it was to be newlyweds. I really hoped not, I couldn't imagine anything more ridiculous than Kylo Ren sat at the beach. I smirked at the image of Ren sat by the sea wearing his mask and shorts.

"Will your duties continue after your marriage?" Another asked me.

"Yes." I was abrupt, bored of making an effort to speak to these robots.

"What about the home, who will run it?"

"There are droids, they can do it." I said as if it was obvious.

They all gasped.

"A woman's touch is much more personal. It's a way to show your husband that you truly care for his needs" General Mays wife gasped.

"I'm sure he'll cope." I sighed.

They all stared at me wide eyed, before the tension was broken with food being delivered. The rest of the evening was spent making awkward small talk and I kept staring at the clock hoping they'd leave me alone. Finally, my hopes were answered as the clock struck 9pm and they decided I needed to have beauty sleep so I would make a beautiful bride tomorrow.

I considered slamming my face into the wall just so that I wouldn't make an attractive bride tomorrow. A big bruised face wouldn't look good for the bride of Ren, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. just got undressed and slid into bed leaving all of the mess from the evening to someone else.

--

My sleep was disturbed by the feeling of someone being in my room, I opened my eyes to a dark figure staring over me. I went to scream but leather gloves covered my mouth, my eyes adjusted, and it was an unmasked Kylo staring at me. He dropped his hand down but gestured for me to be quiet.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I whispered angrily.

"I'm checking for cold feet." He smirked, slurring his words.

His breath reeked of alcohol.

"You're drunk." I snapped.

"And? Are you going to punish me...wifey?" He laughed stumbling.

How much has he had to drink? I'd never see him like this, it was almost as if he was a normal human without the weight of the first order on his shoulders. It was amusing to me that even the mighty Kylo Ren feared by many had a side like this to him.

"Kylo you shouldn't be here, you need to leave." I said quietly

"No one is going to know." He smirked. "I won't tell them."

"Someone will notice that Kylo Ren is in my room the night before our wedding, people will talk."

He stared at me, his eyes glazed over.

"But after tomorrow we'll share a room anyway."

"As husband and wife." I pointed out.

"Is that what you want?"

"No." I said bluntly.

"Me neither, I don't want to hurt you more than I have."

He stood looking sad, I touched his arm. I'd never seen him so vulnerable before.

"Then don't be cruel, and don't close yourself to me." I whispered.

He swept me up in his arms, pushing me up against the wall and kissed me roughly. I kissed him back and lust flew through my body. The moment abruptly ended as he pulled away from me.

"I knew you had feelings for me." He smirked before he stumbled out of my room.

"Bastard" I called out, but I wasn't annoyed, just amused that it had even happened.
