Chapter Sixteen

I was surprised at how green everything was as I stepped from the ship, the planet was beautiful. There were rolling valleys and trees as far as I could see, I gazed up to the sky to look at the shadows of two moons. I walked out towards the long grass and brushed my hand against it, it tickled my palms.

"Stay close." Kylo called out to me.

"Is this planet not held?" I asked.

"It is, but I don't want you to wander too far away. It's a big place you could get lost." He explained and I smirked, he goes from hating me to treating me like a child. He really was a strange, confused man.

He walked away and I followed him close by, looking around enjoying the scenery and the feeling of being on a planet. I didn't know how long I'd be able to experience this for.

Kylo led me into a cave, as we went in he used his light sabre to guide the way as we got further away from the sunlight.

"Are you afraid of spiders?" He asked.

"Why?" I answered cautiously.

"Well the crystals were buried by them, so we will find dead ones."

"Not live ones?" I whispered.

"Probably not, but if we do remember they are poisonous"

"Oh great, now you tell me about the terrifying poisonous spiders" I rolled my eyes. "I don't have a weapon."

"Then stay close to me."

"Do you not give me a weapon on purpose, to keep me close?" I teased. "This isn't the first time."

"Something like that." He murmured, reaching his arm behind him pulling in close to him.

The gap closed between us, the occasional swish of his cloak against me was comforting, his presence settled me as we went deeper into the cave. I shuddered when we passed the occasional giant body of a dead spider, he didn't mention anything about them being enormous. That was the one of the few benefits of living on a spaceship, there were no spiders on board. As a child I had many an occasion where I'd scream for my Nanny to dispatch spiders in my quarters, I was terrified of them.

"We're close now" He whispered. "Can you feel them?"

I nodded. "Umm."

We turned a corner and the cave glittered in bright lights, it was amazing the crystals were stunning.

"Now what?" I asked.

"You extract the one you feel the closest connection to."

He pushed me away from him gently, I walked along the cave staring at all of the crystals the light danced off them as I carefully looked at them. My fingertips brushed against the glittering glass and I tried to reach out to one that was to be mine. I could feel the pull of one in particular on the far wall, I walked quickly not wanting to lose the connection that I had with it. Kylo followed close behind me, using his light sabre to light my path to my chosen crystal.

"You've found it?" He asked.

I nodded and went to reach out for the one I wanted pulling it away from the wall. I was surprised how easy it was to extract.

He could feel my surprise "A crystal will dislodge itself for it's true owner." He explained.

I rolled it in my hand, the red crystal gleamed as the light from the sabre hit its surface, it was perfect for me. I smiled before placing it safely into my pocket.
