Julia:
"We can't get this one, it's barely five feet tall!" I argued over the stupidest thing with Lin.
"So? It's just as short as you are." He stood there, locking eyes with mine, as we tried our hardest not to break into laughter. We failed.
"You idiot!" I softly punched him in the chest. He threw his head back chuckling, bending down to pick up our little Alexander. "Which one do you want, Mister?" He favored our one-year-old's opinion over mine.
"Tree, tree!" He pointed to the one I had originally wanted. Lin rolled his eyes and sighed in defeat, knowing little Alex and I had won the whole fight. "See?" I turned to him, grabbing my son from his arms. "Aren't you glad you're mommy's son?"
Alex grinned in response, having no idea what we were talking about. "You're just as sassy as your mother." Lin pointed to him and then towards me, making him giggle.
"To be fair babe, the tree you wanted was just so...short." I pursed my lips and he let out a laugh, "Now that I think about it, your pick was way better than mine. The tree will look great in our apartment."
"That's because we'll decorate it." I leaned in and kissed his lips. It's true, we might as well be interior designers.
"Now we gotta pick the theme for the lights. Are we going for white and silver, classic red, elegant green...?" He asked me with such a serious tone I couldn't help but chuckle. "You're talking as if you were a whole house decorator."
"That's practically my job. Being an actor is just a way to make money." He shrugged.
After paying for the tree, lights, and ornaments, we ran back home to start our Christmas prep day. We were gonna do everything: From decorating our home, to knitting ugly christmas sweaters, to baking some cookies. Have we mentioned we always go all out for the Holidays?
"Lia, I tried knitting after watching a YouTube DIY thingie-"
"And it still didn't work?" I look at Lin, who had made a mess of his yarn. Seriously, it's like if you gave a child a pair of scissors.
"No."
"Did you watch the entire video or got bored and stopped watching it halfway?" I crossed my arms, looking at him with a sly smirk on my face.
"I stopped watching it..."
We laughed when he revealed his secret. I knew my husband. He could never watch any video full way. He would always get bored or maybe he had a short attention span. Or probably both.
"Alright, at least I tried." He handed me what looked like a sweatshirt for a toddler. It was half my size. I held it up, eyeing it up and down. "Not that bad for your first try." It was red and white, my favorite Christmas colors. He remembered.
"Let's see yours, little miss Perfect." He teased and I smiled. "Well," I grabbed mine from my back. "Voila!"
He was shocked at my suprisingly hidden knitting talent. "So you really can do it all!" He couldn't pry his eyes off of it. "Not gonna lie, I'm pretty impressed myself." I said about my sweatshirt artwork.
"Let's do the thing that we can both excel at."
"Cookie time?"
"Cookie time." He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the couch, dragging me to the kitchen.

I laughed as Alexander kept scolding his father because he couldn't stop eating the baking mix frosting. "But it tastes so good!!" He picked as an argument to defend himself.
"Can you believe our son is more mature than a 40 year old grown man?" I mumbled as I grabbed Alex and sat him down on the counter. "Who wants to help mommy out with the cookie decoration?!"
Not knowing what I had meant, he still smiled and cheered. Oh the beauty of having a kid. Being smiley no matter what you were saying to him.
"Love, are you gonna help decorate?" I asked Lin as he stepped over to the living room. "I'll be right there, I just gotta reply to this text." I nodded my head in approval, and stuck to talking to Alex as we picked up the decorating tools.
From behind my shoulder, I saw Lin's face turn cold as his eyes skimmed over that text he got.
"Satan, where the hell are you?" His scream made my heart drop to my stomach.
