Lin:
"I'm so lucky you packed my bags." Julia sighed out of breath as I helped her get out of bed. You're probably thinking what got us into such a hectic scenario in the first place. Her water broke. In just a few hours or even a few minutes, our baby boy was gonna be born.
"Lego," I fastened my arm around Lia's waist, supporting her to the car. As soon as we got in and I placed her hospital bag in the trunk, we drove off. Thankfully the building was only around six minutes away. I had already alerted our friends and family about the incredible news: We were officially expecting.
"Ugh, can this car go any slower?!"
The vehicle in front of us started to, in fact, go slower as Julia nonchalantly shouted at it. "Apparently, it can." I muttered under my breath, attempting not to snicker.
"Okay, maybe I shouldn't have said that..." She mumbled at the same time, and we both couldn't help but burst into laughter.
We had been so stressed out these past two weeks just waiting for that baby to come out at any time but he just wouldn't! We tried everything. From Julia jamming her mouth with spicy foods to me preparing her red raspberry leaf tea every night, nothing would work. Our baby boy was already being stubborn and he wasn't even born yet...?
The doctors took Julia in instantly after we arrived, which was a first. They gave her her own room while they ran the basic scans and we, well basically, waited for the little guy to come out whenever he was ready.
"You know, he's as headstrong as your husband." We heard a familiar voice talk to Julia and as we both whirled around, I freaked out a bit too much.
"Groffy!!!!!!!!"
"HAMMY!!!!!!!"
"I can't believe you made it!" I squeezed him as excitedly as a little kid receiving his first cellphone on Christmas day. Or his first racetrack? I don't know what little kids want for Christmas. Oh, Lord. Am I gonna be a bad father?! Hope not.
"Well, I couldn't miss the birth of our son." Groffsauce referred to the baby as ours, glaring at Julia. She giggled slightly and I raised my voice, "Look at that! The second time she smiles this day!"
"Duh, the poor girl's in labor, the contractions hurt like hell, and the mood swings have her feeling horrendous." He replied for her.
"Did you read my mind?!" She was shocked at his accurate and detailed description of what it means to be in pregnancy phases.
"I just wanna know how much research you did to know all that." I put a hand on my hip. "I mean, you don't even bother to look up a word on Google when you don't know its meaning."
"Touché." Jonathan uttered and in came the rest of the family.
"WHAT DID I MISS?" Daveed screamed in his french accent.
"THE PRIDE OF THE MIRANDA FAMILY!" Chris answered in the melody of 'The pride of Mount Vernon" of Right Hand Man.
As the girls entered and Jasmine hollered, "AND PEGGY!"

"Tell this little fucker to get out of my stomach now!" Julia never gets pissed, but when she does, you just don't wanna see her.
"Baby, he's gonna be out soon, I promise. Just hang in there. You're so strong-"
"Lin, I love you so much. But please shut up."
"Yes, ma'am." I giggled. I knew she loved me to the ends of the Earth, but hormones can really mess with anyone's body. Especially when those hormones come into play in pregnancy. Heck, those mood swings happen to me if I'm hungry or if I hadn't had my coffee. I completely understand my wife right now. Or at least I'm trying to.
"Good news, Mrs. Miranda!" The doctor came in the rigid door, waking us up both from our sleepy and exhausted state.
"Yes?" I perked up from the chair as Julia stared from her side.
"He's ready." She told us that it was finally time for Lia to give birth to our baby boy. I could already feel the feelings all come out at once towards me. I looked back at my wife and peeked at her in total disbelief of how beautiful she was. "Ready to do this thing?" I winked at her. "Born ready." She smirked, making me laugh.
"I see what you did there." I murmured as leaned down to kiss her lips one last time as a married couple without kids. She deeply returned it, and before I had the chance to leave, she pulled my arm and turned me around. "Good or bad."
"All or nothing."
We said our forms of I love you and then I left the doctors to do their jobs. Nonetheless, as we all waited outside, we kept praying everything was going to go right, and that both Julia and the baby were to be in perfect health.
Just an hour later, we kept hearing Lia's screams from the waiting room. I giggled, because half of the screams were just plain old cursing. Like wife, like husband? All I knew is that the probability of our baby boy's first word being a curse word was gonna be likely.
"And I thought Julia barely cursed." Leslie puffed, alleviating the tension.
"Ten bucks your baby's first word is gonna be shit or fuck." Daveed bet on the same thing I had just thought of, seconds ago. Knowing he was gonna win regardless, I gave in.
"You're on." I shook his hand.
"And you still owe me ten bucks." He reminded me.
"Why's that?"
"I bet you and Julia would get together two years ago. And now, you have a family."
Before I could react to Daveed's slamming remark, I was called in by the doctor. I rushed to the room to see the two people I now love most in this world. As I got nearer, my heart began beating rapidly. I couldn't believe the sight in front of me.
"Welcome home, Alexander Blake Miranda." The love of my life grinned before presenting me to my son in my hands.
