Sans POV:

"SANS? WHERE IS THAT MUSIC COMING FROM? DO WE HAVE ANOTHER ROOM IN THE HOUSE?" I felt my stomach drop. I swallowed, and turned back to the group, shrugging. "I'm sure it's nothing, but I'll-" Toriel gasped loudly, and tears formed in her eyes. "Are you not taking this seriously? Frisk is in there, and you don't even care!" Her words were getting louder with each word.

"I know, I'm going to teleport and take a look." I teleported before anybody could even say another word, and let out a big breath. There were blankets shoved in a corner with a small pillow, the radio was still going, and there were tools and black oil all over the floor. It was evident that someone had been here, and I was sure that someone had been Frisk.

I sighed and picked up one of the tools, and turned toward the machine which no longer had the worn down blanket covering it. She was trying to get back Chara, and she was close. The papers sprawled on the counter top said so. There were a mix of blueprints and lined paper, with translations and such.

I knew where she was now, and I also knew she was in danger. There were a million things that could wrong with the machine she was going to use. She could die. I panicked, thinking that she might already be someplace laying on the floor, dead. But I remembered that there would've been a  reset. Right?

I quickly teleported to Alphys lab, not bothering to tell the others. Frisk's safety was my number one priority right now. "Frisk?" I yelled, speed walking to the True Lab. "Frisk?" My voice was shaky, and my heart was pounding (What even is Sans he doesn't have a heart he's a skeleton c'mon author get your crap together).

I quickly teleported, using much of my power, still desperately calling her name. As I was walking to the machine, I heard a loud bang. I stopped in my tracks, and my eyes got wide. "Frisk...?" I heard a loud gasp.

"No, no, no, no, no!" I ran, and there she was. Sitting on the floor, tears in her eyes. She began to violently sob, and hug a crinkled piece of paper in her arms. "I'm sorry, so so sorry..." I walked over slowly, not knowing what to do.

"Frisk?" She looked up at me, and she stood up, handed me the paper, sniffled, and said, "Please get her back, please, please..." I looked at the paper, then back at her. I tried to hide my emotions the best I could. "I just need a little more time..." She mumbled, wiped her eyes with her hands rather harshly. But that wasn't what I was paying attention to.

"Your eyes..." I leaned in closer to her face, just to make sure. Her eyes were so dull, almost gray. Then it hit me. "Show me your soul." She sighed, and yanked her wrist away "Just get Chara back, please, I'm begging you." She sniffed once again, and grabbed the blueprint from my hands.

"He told her," she began, "that you know how to work the machine, and get her back." I let out a shaky breath. I knew what she was talking about, but that didn't matter, none of it did, and it never would. It never did.

"Show me your soul." I demanded, my voice low and dangerous. She stopped, and looked at me. "Why?" The air was still, and completely quite, the only noise was Frisk's sniffling. I gave her a look, and she finally led her soul out, and it took everything in me not to cry. She was almost a gray.

"Frisk..." I choked out, covering my mouth. She quickly put it back and held up the blueprint once again. "This will get Chara back, I'm sure. I was just trying to figure out how to fix this machine..." She gestured toward the big machine. "I just need more time."

This was all my fault. I took Chara away from her, I led her to this. I realized that the needle in her room, she had been inserting the determination back into her soul. How did I not see this? "Frisk. Everyone's waiting, we have to go back home."

I put my hand under her chin and inspected her eyes once again. I learned quite a lot from g̴͖̝̱̘͔͇̏̓͒͐̈́ͅą̸͖̲͊s̷̢̧̗͍͚̫̘͍̔͜͠͠͠t̸͙̲̮̠̘̯̫̐e̸̥͂̑r̸̡̳̳͈̿̎̉̊͝, and knew that she only had a short amount of time until she was a gray, at least a few hours. "Let's go now." I grabbed her hand and teleported back to the house.
