Chapter 19: Illegal Business

Cassie walked down the streets knowing exactly where she was going to find Five. She knew him too much already to know his obsession with that eye wasn't going to stop until he found an owner. So he definitely was outside of Meritech Prosthetics.

When she finally reached the place she scouted the area noticing a very suspicious van parked across the road with a full view of the building. She instantly remembered how Klaus mentioned something about a van earlier so she guessed Five might be inside.

The girl didn't even hesitate to walk over to the van. Yeah, she still had feelings towards the boy who was hiding inside of it, but she also realized that being separated was putting everyone around them in danger. Even if Five didn't want her around she felt obligated to tell her what just happened and warn him. Hazel and Cha-Cha were no joke. They were one of the bests when it came to the assassin job at the commission. Right after Number Five and Cassie. Them being together could help their chances if they were to encounter Hazel and Cha-Cha again.

Cassie stood next to the van and opened the co-pilot door abruptly. Catching Number Five completely off guard. The girl looked inside the car and saw Delores sitting on the co-pilot seat next to Five.

"Really?" Cassie said looking at Five referring to Delores being with him. She moved the mannequin to the middle of the seat making some space for her and entered the van closing the door behind her.

"What are you doing here? I thought you wanted to stay away." Five yelled at Cassie. He wasn't expecting her to here with him. Not after what had happened the day before.

"Hold on, you thought I wanted to stay away? You were the one who suggested me leaving you alone." Cassie said looking at him. She couldn't believe that he thought that it was her choice to stay away.

"Yeah, whatever." Five said looking at the girl. "It doesn't matter anymore because you are clearly here now. My question is why?" Five said as he sat back.

"Um, let me think. I really don't know. Maybe it was the fact that your siblings and I could have gotten murdered at the academy by some intruders. And that those intruders happened to be commission assassins, Hazel and Cha-Cha." Cassie said to Five with some irony in her voice.

"Shit. They came after you too?" Five suddenly said and Cassie turned to look at him in shock.

"What the fuck do you mean by, 'They came after you too?'" Cassie burst out at Five quoting his words. This was unbelievable.

"Yesterday when I went to look for Delores they showed up. They tried to get me, but of course, they couldn't." Five said cockily acting as if he didn't even struggle when they showed up. He was lying. "Shut up, Delores." He said to the mannequin as this one began to expose his lie inside his head.

"Okay, let me understand. You were attacked as well while being completely by yourself. You could have gotten killed and knew they were looking for both of us, and you still didn't warn me?" Cassie said still fuming. "I wouldn't of let my guard down if I knew this," Cassie said running a hand through her hair out of frustration. "Even Delores is on my side." She said as the mannequin gave her validation.

This was starting to get ridiculous. She understood that Five thought that they should be away from each other, but there should always be exceptions. One of them, for example, was to warn the other in case any of them were in danger. But that really didn't go through Five's head.

Five looked at her staying quiet for a few seconds. He knew the girl was right, he could have warned her. Even Delores thought so too. But now it was late to undo his mistake.

"Listen, okay? I'm sorry." Five said looking at her. "Yeah, I should of warn you. But after they tried to attack me at the store and I managed to escape, I was in a bad mood. I was tired and angry and I knew that if I came across you I would make things worse." Five said honestly taking a deep breath. "And to be honest I thought you would be safe at the academy."
