Chapter 12 - Burning

Alice POV

"Oof" I turned over in bed and opened my eyes. I looked at the clock. It was 7.00. I pulled myself out of bed. I'd only had a few hours of sleep.

 I had been up most of the night talking to Ron and Hermione about Voldemort.

I was sure he had to be stopped. It felt weird being back in Hogwarts after last years escapade. We had been out in the forbidden forrest and Voldemort had attacked us.

 He wants me dead.

This thought sent a shiver down my spine.

He was evil.

By this time i was dressed in my school robes. I wandered past the other four beds in the room. They all had a sleeping 2nd year in them. I walked down the steps in to the common room.

 It was deserted.

We didn't have to be up for another 30 minuites but i wanted to have my breakfast over with and escape for a walk before every one came down and started pointing at me. I entered the great hall .

It was empty too. I sat down at the Gryiffendore table and had some toast. I didn't feel like eating.

 I just wasn't hungry.

The time tables were sitting in the middle of the table.

I picked mine up and looked at it. Great. Double potions with Proffessor Snape 3 times a week first thing. What a great start to the term.

I finished my toast and drowened my apple juice in one gulp.

I headed outside for a breather. The great hall was starting to fill up rapidly. It was 30 minuites till classes start. It was a nice day outside. The leaves there starting to fall on the grass and the birds were cawing over head.

I looked at my watch. It was time to head down to the potions dungeon. I grugingly went inside and headed down the stairs.

The bell rang and Hermione came running over. "Hel..." She started but she was cut off by Proffessor Snape, "In." He shouted at us.

I walked in meeting his eyes. I held my gaze for as long as i could. It annoyed him.

We entered the class and he called us over. "Today we are making a shrinking potion. I told you to learn it from memory over the holidays. Go make." He ushered up off.

My desk was next to Draco Malfoys. We spent the whole lesson trading horrible remarks and elbows and not enough time concentrating. I hate him.

I tried to think.

Ok i need a a a vial of water! Emm some Dinaty and some flobberworm mucus!

I mixed the first part of my otion together on a low heat building it up.

It was time for the secont part of the potion. I could not think what to put in it.

I guessed and put some random ingredients in. I looked at Hermione. She was at the other side of the classroom sadly.

Proffessor Snape started working his way round the class collecting in every ones potions.

I looked up.

Snape was beside me.

I finnished my potion and turned off the flame and cast a cooling spell on a section of it and put the cold liquie in to a vial.

My potion was a disaster. It turned in to a fattening potion. Snape sneered at me when i handed it to him. "10 Points from Gryffindore."

He never took any points of Draco though. He just gave him a dissapointed look.

Draco smiled at him.

Draco liked annoying people. He was a spitfull, stupid slytherin brat.

You could use mamy works to describe him.

He collected in the rest of the potions and continued threatining the rest of the Gryiffendores.

The bell rang.

He told the Slytherins to go.

"I am very..." He froze mid sentence. His hand on the inside of his lower left arm.

The arm where his dark mark is.
