Chapter 18 - She's Dead

Hermione POV

She's dead. She's dead.

The tears ran down my face. Luna Lovegood was dead.

It was the Hogsmead weekend yesterday. It was all going well.

Our little Luna. She was a nice loony girl.

A bang had been heard overhead. Death eaters started appperating in to the central square.

People started to run.

Alice started to shoot spells at the death eaters. They were throwing killing curses around.

She knew they had to be stopped.

More people appeared. The teachers and other people began to save the pupils of Hogwarts.

Alice was cornered by the death eaters.

She was standing outside the Hogs head.

Luna was next to her trying to help her.

Suddenly she spun around. Her long blond hair spinning with her.

Her blue eyes were gazing in to Sarah Lestranges eyes.

Sarah started laughing. She called her mother over.

"Caught one!" She cried.

Bellatrix instantly drew up her wand. She pointed it at Luna who was still being held by Sarah.

Alice got away. She ran around them over to me. She wasn't spotted.

I was just about to run over to Luna when.

"I know you are there. One more move the girl dies." Bellatrix whispered.

I ignored her and went to move but Alice held me back. Ron was with Neville and Ginny over at the other side of the small town.

Bellatrix laughed, "I'm so sorry dearies. I can't resist it," She said in a suger sweet voice, "CRUCIO!"

Sarah dropped Luna.

Luna's body fell to the floor. Her body writhed in pain. She was hitting the tarmac.

Thud, Thud, Thud.

"NOOOOOOOO!" Alice ran forward.

Bellatrix lifted the curse for a second to case a bubble around them. She grinned.

Alice started thumping the bubble trying to get in.

I ran over and started casting spells on the bubble. It wouldn't budge.

Bellatrix lifted her wand again, "CRUCIO!"

Lunas let out a blood curdeling scream. It made the air stand still.

It sent a shiver down my back thinking back.

Luna stopped moving. She was dead.

Bellatrix grinned bigger than before.

Sarah the horrible thing had started running.

As soon as the death eaters had came, they were gone.

Sarah Lestrange ran up to the school cackling while the bubble. I had been left with Alice holding the body of Luna Lovegood.

Ginny ran over and saw Luna. She fainted. Ron picked up his little sister.

Ginny looked so small in his arms. He ran off to get help for her and us.

Professor McGonagall rushed over to us. Two words escaped her mouth, "Oh Dear."

She could tell we didn't want to talk. She never even tried to take Luna from us.

She grabbed us by our shoulders and lead us up the road to the castle.

No one muttered a word.

We passed through the gates. Students were lined up in small groups paying their respects.

We walked past them and in to the castle. It was the same inside.

Everybody froze when they saw us and hung their heads.

We went up the stairs to the hospital wing and steped inside.

Three beds were full.

One had Ginny.

The next one had Ron.

The last one had Neville.

Madam Pomfrey rushed over from the sleeping students .Professor McGonagall pulled Luna out on my arms.

She guided us over to two beds and transfigured out clothes in to nightdresses.

She pushed me in to a bed and tucked it in. She did the same to Alice.

"Wwh am I here?" I stuttered.

"You have seen terrible events today dear. You need a proper rest." She answered.

She produced a potion and put it to my lips. I drank it.

A dreamless sleep engulfed me.
