I was walking through the woods alone even though it was the middle of the night. I know it's probably not the smartest thing to do, but I just needed to be alone. My life has been crazy. I've been a living ball of stress for what feels like forever. The trees looked like endless shadows stretching up to the sky and across the moonlit forest floor. There wasn't any need to have a flashlight, because the moon was so bright. As I walked through some thick pine trees I heard something moving around nearby. It made me feel a little nervous, but I tried to just right it off as an animal. 'It's probably just a mouse or something.' I thought inside of my head. "Hello?" I heard a male voice say, making my heart jump up into my throat. I started breathing hard and I felt some sweat break out on my brow. "I can hear you walking around. If this is some kind of joke, it's not funny." The voice said again. 'Should I respond or should I keep quiet?' I wondered as I stood there. "I'm not playing a joke on you. I don't even know who you are." I eventually said. I stood there and started to panic a little as the sound of footsteps came towards me. In a beam of silvery moonlight I saw a man step out of the darkness.

I could see that he was wearing some kind of jacket, but I wasn't able to tell what color it was. He had a beard as well. "Who are you?" He asked me curiously. "I'm, y/n. Who are you?" I replied. I wasn't sure if I could trust him, but it was better than getting attacked because I stayed silent. "My name is Daniel." He said, tilting his head to the side as he looked at me. "What are you doing out here at night in the middle of the woods?" He asked. I couldn't quite see the expression on his face, but I imagined he was looking at me with furrowed brows. "I could ask you the same question." I replied and a moment of silence passed between us before either of us spoke up. He asked me if I knew if there was a place near by where he could spend the night, because he was new in town. "Well... there's my place." I replied. I still didn't know if I could trust him but I couldn't just let him sleep on the forest floor. There are all kind of dangerous animals out in these woods. So I lead him back to my house where I made him a hot cup of tea; we both sat on the couch next to the fireplace as well. It was a cool night after all.

Now that we were inside with all of the lights on, I could see him better. He looked handsome and cute in my opinion. His eyes were the most beautiful shade of brown that I've ever seen. "Thank you for letting me spend the night. I know most people wouldn't invite a stranger into their home, so I'm very grateful." He said as we sat and drank our hot drinks. "I couldn't let you stay out there all alone without anything to protect yourself." I said. Deep down I desperately hoped that he wasn't going to hurt me or steal my stuff in the middle of the night. But something kinda told me that I could trust him. He gave me a small smile before he thanked me again. Eventually I gave him a pillow and a blanket to sleep on the couch. "I'll help you keep the fire going through the night. It's the least I can do to since you've been so kind to me." He said as he ran a hand through his dark hair. I thanked him and we talked for a few moments before we said goodnight to each other. I went upstairs to my bedroom to change into my pajamas. As I climbed into bed I hoped that Daniel would sleep well, just because he looked really tired. Even though I wasn't sure if I could totally trust him I ended up falling asleep rather quickly.

The next morning I woke up to the sound of rain hitting the window in my room. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes before stretching. Then I got ready for the day; I put on a pair of sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt. When I got downstairs I found Daniel sound asleep on the couch. He looked so cute I didn't want to wake him up just yet. After checking the fire I washed my hands and started cooking breakfast for the two of us. The smell of food and brewing coffee seemed to awaken the sleeping stranger. His hair was disheveled when he walked into the kitchen. "Good morning. Did you sleep good?" I said with a small smile. "I slept good. The food smells delicious." He replied with a sleepy smile of his own. Once everything was done, we sat down at my kitchen table and we ate breakfast together.

The two of us made small talk just to get to a little more about each other. Apparently he was dropped off in the woods by his friends as a joke, and then they abandoned him. "They don't sound like very good friends in my opinion." I said. I felt really bad for him; I know I'd feel horrible if my friends did that to me. "Well... maybe they aren't, but what they did gave us the opportunity to meet." He replied. He was right. I was glad that he and I met to be honest, but I hated the fact that his friends treated him so badly. I offered him to stay longer especially since he didn't have enough money to afford a motel room in this town. To my surprise he took me up on my offer. I just hope that we'd grow closer the longer he stayed.
