I had been working for the doctor as a housekeeper for a year now, but I was thinking about leaving. At first I didn't think that the bedroom had been staying in was haunted... but that changed a few weeks ago. Ever since the doctor and I had been getting closer I've started having bad dreams about a woman. Every dream is the same, and every time dream of her she dies. I'm standing at the bottom of the stairs in the house and I watch as she struggles with someone on the balcony. I yell for them to stop, but they can't hear me. Helplessly I watch as she falls down through the air in slow motion. She hits the chandelier before her body lands with a loud thud on the floor. Her neck was at an odd angle, letting me know that she was dead.

That very dream made me jolt up right in bed. My brow was covered in sweat and I wiped it away with a shaky hand. I slowly got up out of my bed to splash some cold water on my face. Then I walked out into the sitting room where I sat down on a chair that was facing the street window. The lamps were visible, illuminating an empty street. I took a few deep breaths as the memories of my dream started to fade slightly. A creaking sound on the floorboards caught my attention; when I looked over at the doorway I saw the figure of a person standing there. "Y/n, is that you?" I heard Dr. Kreizler said curiously. "Yeah, it's me. I... I couldn't sleep." I replied. He walked further into the room and crouched down beside of me. He studied me with his big brown eyes for a few minutes before speaking up. "Did you have a bad dream?" He asked in a sympathetic tone. I told him I had and described the bad dreams I had been having. He offered me his hand, which I took. Then I followed him over to the couch where the two of us sat down. "One of my housekeepers died in this house... her name was Mary. She died in the same way you've been dreaming about." He said with a look of pure sadness in his eyes.

But then he described how she was once one of his patients and that the two of them had fallen in love with each other. I figured maybe she had been visiting me in dreams, because she was upset that Dr. Kreizler and I had been getting close. Neither one of us were necessarily in love, but we definitely had an interest in each other. "Do you think her spirit is trying to tell me something?" I asked him curiously. "I'm not sure. But then again, I've always been a man of science rather than religion or spiritualism." He replied with a small smile on his handsome face. A few moments of silence passed before he lead me back to my room. We said goodnight to each other before I closed the bedroom door. After climbing into bed, I covered up and stared at the ceiling for a few moments before drifting off to sleep. The next morning Dr. Kreizler took me to Mary Palmer's grave where we both paid our respects. I even brought flowers to leave there for her, and I hoped she liked them. I didn't want her to think I was stealing the doctor away from him, because I knew a part of his heart will always belong to her.
