Paying Respects | Helmut Zemo - Part 4

When I got back from the grocery store Sam and Bucky helped me put everything away. Zemo was busy making dinner, which was very sweet of him. Once everything was put away I offered to help cook. "You don't have to help, y/n. I can do this alone if you'd prefer to just relax." Zemo said with an adorable shimmer to his beautiful big brown eyes. I've really developed a huge soft spot for him, and I kinda felt like he has developed a soft spot for me too. At least I hoped so. "But I wanna help." I replied and a small smile spread across his handsome face. The two of us were being kinda playful as we kept an eye on the food that was cooking. I really hoped that Sam and Bucky were being distracted by the tv. At least I thought they were watching tv, because I could hear that it. It's just... if they saw Zemo and I being playful they'd start teasing us. That would only lead to me blushing and feeling very embarrassed. "Zemo." I giggled softly as he gently tickled my sides. "I told you, Y/n. You can call me Helmut." He said as he pulled me in for a warm hug. I wrapped my arms around him and snuggled into his chest as he played with my hair a little. My insides felt so warm, and I'm pretty sure my heart melted as well. I was developing a crush on him but I didn't wanna say anything.

I didn't want to ruin the sweet friendship that had grown between us. "I'm sorry, I'm just so use to calling you Zemo." I replied. "It's okay. Time should make you get use to calling me by my first name." He said as we slowly broke the hug. We continued cooking dinner, and once it was finished we all ate together. After eating Sam and Bucky offered to clean up and wash dishes. I let them even though I was a little worried that they might break something. Just because I knew how they act when they're together doing things. But I pressed my thoughts to the back of my mind as Helmut and I sat on the couch. The two of us watched tv and I kinda snuggled into his side. "You wanna be close to me huh?" He said with a playful sparkle in his eyes. "Yeah." I replied shyly. I blushed in response as well. "Then come here kitten." He said, which made me... feel things. I was practically screaming inside of my head. I moved as close as I could to him and he wrapped his arm around me. "Look at you two all cozy." Sam said. I could hear the smile in his voice without even looking up, but when I did I saw that I was right. There was a huge smile on his face. My heart was beating like crazy in my chest. I was so nervous that he and Bucky were going to start teasing us. They exchanged a look, but they didn't say anything more. But their smiles made me feel uncomfortable. It just felt like they knew something was happening between Helmut and I.

After hours of tv watching we collectively agreed that it was time to go to sleep. Sam and Bucky went into the guest bedroom while I kinda stayed behind in the living room. I wanted Helmut to cuddle with me, but I was too shy to say anything. So we hugged each other goodnight and I went to my room to change into my  pajamas. I climbed into bed but it took me a while to actually fall asleep. But that was short lived too. I woke up sometime in the middle of the night unable to fall back to sleep. So I used the bathroom before going into the kitchen to get a drink of water. "Y/n is that you?" I heard Helmut whisper softly in the darkness. "Yeah, it's me." I replied. I heard him get up and walked towards the kitchen. The only light was coming from the open fridge. "You can't sleep can you?" He asked as he too got himself a drink of water. "No. How did you know I couldn't sleep?" I said with slightly furrowed brows. "Because I can't sleep either." He said after he finished drinking his water. The two of us talked in hushed tones for a while. "Maybe if we slept next to each other we could actually sleep." I said with a slight laugh even though I wasn't joking. "That might work." He said, which surprised me. When he said he was serious we went to my room where we cuddled in my bed. I breathed in his wonderful scent and enjoyed his warmth. This time it didn't take long for me to fall asleep.
