I felt nervous about going to meet Laszlo Kreizler at his institute. Mostly because I had a little birthday surprise for him. Half of the employees at the institute were in on my plan as well, just so he wouldn't be busy today. It is his birthday after all. Cyrus left me inside and lead me to Laszlo's office. "Come in." He said after I knocked on his door. I walked into his office and my heart melted when he looked up at me. He was wearing his round reading glasses, which made him ten times cuter than he always is. "Y/n, I wasn't expecting you. How have you been?" He said with a small smile on his handsome face. "I've been good." I replied with a smile of my own. The two of us talked for a little while before I asked him if he wanted to go to lunch with me. "I'd love to go to lunch with you." He replied and his big brown eyes sparkled. Cyrus took us in the clash; I already told him where I wanted to take Laszlo, so I didn't have to spoil it. "Where are we going?" He asked after a long moment of comfortable silence. "We're going on a picnic." I said happily. He admitted that he hadn't been on a picnic in a long time. So I really hoped that he enjoyed his little birthday lunch. Once we reached our destination I set up the picnic blanket so we could sit on the ground. Then I started unpacking the basket of food I brought with me.
Today was so beautiful. The sky was such a bright blue, and there were a few fluffy white clouds floating around. It was warm as well; it wasn't an uncomfortable warmth either. We talked about the theater, art, literature, etc. I wanted him to stop thinking about work for just a few minutes if I could. Especially since I knew he has been so stressed recently. After we ate we just relaxed in the shade of a big tree. The smell of the flowers and fresh grass was so soothing. "Happy birthday, Laszlo." I said as I handed him the present I bought him. They were a few poetry books as well as new journals. I really hoped that he liked them. "Thank you so much, y/n. This has been such a wonderful lunch." He said and I gave him a side hug, which he returned. Unfortunately our little lovely moment came to and end. He had to go back to work. But I went back to the institute with him, just because I didn't wanna leave him right away. "You're coming to dinner at Delmonico's tonight, aren't you?" He asked as the two of us walked up to the front doors of his office. "Of course I'll be there. It's your birthday!" I said with a smile. He smiled before we gently wrapped our arms around each other. I kinda snuggled into his chest as well, just so I could breath in his wonderful scent. When I left I instantly started to miss him. But I knew I'd see him later tonight.
