"You have always approached everything terribly trustfully. You have wanted to pet every monster."—Friedrich Nietzsche.
WAKING UP IN THE MIDDLE of the woods next to a path of dirt was definitely not how Sirena Kenner wanted to wake up.
The memories of what had gotten her in that undesired situation came back to her as slowly as she managed to get back up on her feet, her body aching from being knocked out and then thrown right out of a moving vehicle.
She didn't know who the hell that guy was, but Hayley did.
Tyler, she had called him.Shockingly, he was a hybrid, and –for some unknown reason– had chosen not to kill her.
It was morning already, the sunlight making her narrow her eyes uncomfortably to try to take a better look of her surroundings. But the constant pounding in her head was making things a little hard for her, turning her vision blurry no matter how much she blinked.
Her knees quickly gave in, forcing the mermaid to use her hands for support and stop her face from colliding with the ground.
Bloody Tyler had hit her really hard in the head, the kind of damage it might have caused would need vampire blood for healing, she was sure.
Her vision went black once more, her body falling completely to the ground, allowing the darkness to consume her once more.
Sirena ... you've got to help them ...
He needs you, they need you ... you need them ...
Wake up ...
WAKE UP!
Her body shot up as she breathed in a large gulp of air, consequently earning her a coughing fit.
The Goddess. It had to be her. It was the same voice that had given her the prophecy six years ago, the experience was drilled into her brain, very single detail was vivid for her.
A quick prayer left her lips as a thank you for the Moon Goddess, who had communicated after so long to make sure she protected the Mikaelson baby. She needed to find Hayley and make sure the baby was okay. It was the only thing the mermaid could think of as she dragged her feet around and leaned against the trees all around.
Deciding to ignore the aching all over her body, she focused on her sense of smell and her knowledge of the bayou, she knew she was close to the camp of those who didn't inherit the werewolf gene, and therefore weren't cursed like Jackson.
