"I still don't get why you're doing this."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean you totally suck at acting."

"Thanks." You reply drily.

You and your best friend are in the park, swinging on the swing set.

You and Joseph have been best friends since kindergarten, you're both very close.

And a lot of people think you're either dating or have a crush on each other, but you know he's actually gay.

And he's not you're type, you're type is more like guys who are much older than you.

And guys who aren't gay.

"I'm kidding, not actually, I just don't want to lose my best friend."

"Please I'd never leave you."

"Awe you love me!"

"No, I just bear you."

"Love you too!"

You roll your eyes.

"Hey what happened to that voice you were hearing."

"Dunno it doesn't happen a lot, the only times were before I went to sleep and it was just humming then."

"So you do need a physiologist."

"It's a psychologist-"

"Same difference."

"-and no I do not need one. It's probably nothing."

"Or you're so lonely and desperate for love that you're-"

"Shut up!"

He laughs, "just saying."

"Says the one who's secretly crushing on at least 7 guys."

"Woooowwww!"

You join his laughter.

"Now back to acting... remember the school play! You got the lead but you were terrible!"

"You're cruel."

"I think you only got the role because of your singing."

"Please as if. I cannot sing. Like at all."

"Wanna bet? Sing. Right here, right now."

"I'd rather get stabbed in the leg with a fork."

"Well that's specific."

"I can be more specific if you'd like."

"No thanks."

It's quiet for a second.

"Hey look."

"What?" You turn back to Joseph.

"I got these magnet things. They're like little balls and you can make things with them. They stick together."

"I feel like that'd be annoying if you mess up or the magnets stick together where they're not supposed to."

"It is. Very much so."

You laugh.

"Hey I gotta go. My dad wanted me home," you pause and look at the time, you abruptly stand up, tripping slightly, "1 hour ago! Oh god I'm so dead. Bye Joseph!"

"Bye y/n. Don't die too much."

"No promises."

You start to run back towards your house.

"Y/n! How's your mother?"

You trip slightly and stop running, "oh hi Mrs. Dursley."

"Hello dear."

"Mums fine."

"That's wonderful. Why're you in such a rush?"

"I was supposed to be home an hour ago."

"Oh my. Well tell your father you were here talking to me."

"Really? Thank you Mrs. Dursley!"

"Of course. And call me Petunia."

"Yeah uh thanks," you hesitate, "Petunia... I better go now."

"Wait! Tell your family that I would like to invite them to dinner on Christmas Eve."

"Got it. Thank you again. I'll see you soon."

God that family's annoying.

You run away from the Dursley house and as soon as you think you're out of view you slow to a walk. After a couple more houses, you arrive at yours.

You open the door.

"Where were you? You were supposed to be home an hour ago!"

"Sorry dad... I uh was talking to Mrs. Dursley."

"Them? Ugh I hate those Dur-"

"Petunia?"

"Hi mum."

"Hey sweetie. So you were talking to Petunia?"

"Yeah, in fact she invited us to dinner this Christmas Eve."

"That sounds wonderful!"

"No it doe-"

"Shut up honey. It sounds amazing and y/n, dear, next time you see them tell her we said that it would be delightful to come over."

"Yes mum."

"It's way too early to invite people to dinner on Christmas Eve."

"F/n be quiet."

"Bu-"

You sneak away, ignoring the rest of the conversation.

Ugh.

You walk to the shower and turn it to burning hot, leaving to get your stuff while it warms.

Once you have your stuff you return to the shower and strip, climbing in the shower.

"Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song. You go ahead, let your hair down. Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams. Just go ahead, let your hair down... I don't know the rest of the words."

You repeat the song, trying to remember the rest of the words to it.
