Naturally someone banging on your front door at 4 in the morning isn't the best situation.

But then again you life isn't exactly the best situation.

So here you are, walking down the stairs to your house. You're in pajamas, your hair is an absolute mess, and you're only half awake.

"My god! Who the hell would be here at 4 in the goddamn morning?" Your dad yells.

Oh great.

Apparently the loud, obnoxious knocking woke your parents as well.

Which you should have expected, but it's still not very exciting.

Your dad's a terrible person to be near when he's, well, ever. But it's worse on certain occasions. Like, for example, when someone is knocking at the door at 4 in the morning.

"Calm down honey. We don't want to wake y/n."

And there's your mother, an absolute angel. How her and your dad ended up together, who knows. She's somehow always in a good mood.

"I'm already a-" you yawn, "wake."

She sighs, "alright then. Can you get the door."

"Mhm..."

You stumble to the door, and try to open it. However, you feel weak from your tiredness.

Then again it might've helped if you had unlocked the door first.

You finally manage to open the door.

"Joseph?"

Of course it's Joseph. Who else would be here at 4 in the morning?

"Are you drunk?"

"Just a bit."

"Y/n!" You mother yells in response to that.

"Only a little bit? How boring."

You huff, but then notice his state. His hair is a mess as well and his eyes are red. He's sniffing a lot and seems a bit agitated.

So either he's high or has been crying.

"What's wrong?" You yawn again.

"Nothing."

"Whatta you doin here then?"

"I uh... can I stay here tonight?"

"Yeah, sure. I think. Mum?"

"Of course you can Joseph, dear. Just next time you want to come over please try to do it before midnight."

"Thanks Mrs. l/n."

"Of course. F/n and I are going to sleep now, alright?"

"Okay mum. Let's go upstairs."

He doesn't respond.

Which is quite unusual, usually he would make a joke or say something sarcastic. But at the moment he was completely silent.

You close the door to your room and sit next to him on your bed.

"So what's up?"

"Can't a guy come stay with his best friend for a night?"

"Well yeah, but most of the time people ask before they stay. And most of the time they don't show up randomly at your house at 4 in the morning."

"4:30 actually."

"What's wrong Joseph?"

"Nothing."

"If you don't tell me I will slow roast you over a fire like a pig at a Hawaiian thingy."

"Sounds fun. I finally told my parents that I'm gay..."

"Oh! Joseph that's amazing!"

"Not really. I told them at dinner and they weren't happy about it. They told me to leave, didn't want a gay son, I guess."

You're quiet for a second, "well then they're not very good parents. They've never seemed to care about you before, even when they thought you were straight. Your real family is here in this house. I'm your real family and so is my mum. And as your really family, we accept you. And I'm sure that you can stay here forever."

He smiles slightly, "I doubt I'll be staying here forever."

"Who knows? With your grades-"

"With my grades I can go to college right now even though I was a freshmen last year."

"Okay. With my grades I could be stuck here forever and just force you to stay with me."

"That's more accurate."
