Chapter 15

Sometimes in our life we experience a doubt in ourselves. A doubt that suddenly would've replaced the security in us. We might've felt that we were secure in something but as the time for it approaches we realize how doubtful we suddenly become in ourselves, in this situation where we before felt so secure. It often has a tendency to psyche us more out than we would've needed for it to do.

As of now there were now one spot left in I-land, all of us three girls still stood left as someone who could end up leaving for sure, at least two off us girls were to leave and a maximal of one could stay. I stood still between Dahee and Hyejin as the votes for the last I-lander was revealed. 598.919 global votes. I sucked in a deep breath as I looked down and reached out to each of my sides and grabbed ahold for both Dahee and Hyejin's hands, who both immediately grabbed tightly onto my hand as well.

"The last applicant to join I-land is... Choi Jiyeon."

I stood still in my spot, it seemed unreal that I actually had continued in this competition. I hadn't expected to continue, I was a girl, in a competition mainly for boys, how had I managed to get enough global votes. I could feel Hyejin give my back a small push before I carefully stepped forward and was handed a microphone to say something to everyone that had voted for me. But I seemed to be in too much shock, to actually think of something good to say.

"Uhm... wow... thank you to everyone who have voted for me. I couldn't even have imagined this in my wildest dreams. I will continue to work hard to make you all proud. Thank you," I bowed as everyone else clapped and I was directed towards the egg.

I handed my microphone over to some staff before I stepped into the egg and took a deep breath as it slowly began turning and I wrenched my hands continuously as it turned. I carefully turned around as the other I-landers appeared in front of me, and in a matter of seconds I had been attacked with hugs from everyone that had made it onto the next stage of the competition. Everyone seemed oddly happy to see me, I hadn't exactly expected such a warm welcome to be fairly honest.

After everything had settled down the ranking of everyone was slowly revealed one by one. I already knew I was gonna be 13th, since I was the one with the lowest global score, and couldn't possibly have gotten more votes than any of the boys that already had a secured spot in part 2 from the beginning. Sure enough... my banner was the first to drop in the 13th place. I grabbed my name plate and placed it on number 13. After me it was Hanbin, then after him it was Geonu before the last one I would share a room with were announced to be Taki. I grinned widely seeing the three boys I would share a room with before leaning over to Hanbin.

"We might be the lowest ranking, but we'll get the highest ranking in terms of the best room," I told him with a wide smile, making him smile as well. I smiled widely, knowing I had at least made him smile despite the bad situation we seemed to be in.

Afterwards the rest of the ranking was announced to be:

I grinned widely at Sunoo as he sat down across from me in the other end of the half-circle. It actually didn't come as a surprise to me that he had gotten first place in the global voting, he was too loveable of a character to everyone watching and to all of us. Such an incredibly loveable character. Many seemed to wonder how it was possible that someone had placed over Heeseung, before I realized and once I did, I couldn't help but smile widely.

"The global voting isn't only on talent... people want idols who are loveable as well," I explained to Hanbin who nodded in agreement, "they don't only look on talent they look at the whole character."

"What are you then doing down here?" he questioned with a small smile to me.

"I'm a girl," I reminded him with a smile that said it was clear as to why I was here, "and my Korean was terrible in part 1... but I have improved."

"You have?" he questioned with a small laugh and I proudly nodded, I studied very hard in the break time between part 1 and 2.

"This time I took the right name sign," I pointed out to him proudly making him let out a small laugh at me, "and we don't know how the episodes have been edited to make us look. For all we know we could look like the most terrible people on earth."

In that moment the next test was revealed to us as the BTS test where we would be divided, for once, out into three units, which all had their own BTS song to perform. But to divide the units there was a small mission which was lead by Sungdeuk and Bae Yoonjung, of course it was a dance battle, it couldn't possibly have come as a surprise once we saw the two enter I-land. But since we were an uneven number of people I was not participating as I had the lowest score. It was completely fine with me and I just enjoyed watching everyone else do their best, I was especially a fan of Sunoo's seducing dance, very charming indeed, and to be honest I couldn't help but dance along with him, which only had earned us loads of laughs from the boys.

In the end it had ended up with Taki being placed first, which were quite understandable. K had placed second and Jungwon had placed third. This was also the order in which they were either going to chose their song or unit members in. They all decided themselves who they wanted to pick and what they wanted to pick first. After that small mission Yoonjung and Sungdeuk had left and we had returned to our ranked seats to await what the three winners would choose, and who.

Taki had chosen members over song first and had ended up choosing Sunoo, Heeseung and Sunghoon, a quite strong team, which he'll really need if he was unlucky enough to end with 'Fake Love'. K and Jungwon had, however, chosen the song first, which had meant that Taki's unit had ended up with 'Fake Love', unluckily for him, meanwhile K had gotten 'DNA' and Jungwon had gotten 'I Need U'. Something told me that the two songs actually fit the two quite well. I really could imagine K dancing and performing such a colorful song as 'DNA', meanwhile I could also see Jungwon performing such a sentimental song as 'I Need U'. It really fit them well.

"I-Lander K, choose your group members."

"I will chose... Niki, Jay, Hanbin and..." K trailed off. DNA was the unit with five members, so he had to chose and extra one unlike everyone else. It was clear he was hesitant to choose the last member and looked around a bit unsure of who to pick, until he seemed to have made a decision in his mind, "Jiyeon."

I happily nodded as Hanbin grinned widely at me from my side. It seemed that we were going to have a lot of fun together. This had left Daniel, Geonu and Jake to join the 'I Need U' unit, however I felt that they actually all would do pretty good in that one. They all had... what could you say? They all had the face for it, I think would be the right wording. Not that they all were sentimental hopelessly romantic dudes, but understood in the way where they seemed to be able to embody the song well for the viewers watching.
