I sat between two sinks in the second floor bathroom as all the boys had lined up down the restroom, all standing in their red suits and black shirt. I had done all their makeup for our performance so now they all patiently stood and waited as I was heating up the straightener to do their hair properly.
"Be careful with that," Heeseung reminded me as I would put my hand between the two parts of the straightener to feel the heat slowly appearing.
"You think I haven't done this before?" I questioned him with an arched brow.
"I just don't want you to burn yourself," he pointed out to me, whilst staring intently at my hand and the straightener.
"Hmm... yeah... careful what you say to me or I'll burn your eyebrow off," I reminded him and with that comment Sunghoon widened his eyes behind Heeseung, making me let out a small laugh at his expression, "okay... it's warm enough."
First in line were K, then Heeseung, Sunghoon, Jake and lastly Jungwon. I carefully went through all their hair until Sunghoon stepped up, and I immediately got frustrated just by the first strand of hair.
"Ah, seriously," I complained as he had a strand of hair at the back of his head that just refused to lay down, no matter how many times I tried, "I hate your hair."
"Yah!" he complained loudly at me as he let out a small laugh.
"Jake... can you agree with me that that strand of hair is the devil itself?" I questioned Jake who immediately stepped up and looked at the strand of hair.
"I'm sorry Hoonie, but... she is struggling quite a bit with it," Jake pointed out to him as he looked at the strand that poked straight out from Sunghoon's head.
"I could just cut it off," I muttered in realization.
"You're not doing that," Sunghoon sternly denied and I simply sighed at his refusal.
I sat still for a while more and continued to struggle with the strand, but eventually I had managed to get it to lay somewhat down on his head, before sending him out in the common room where K and Heeseung already were, just for me to move onto Jake.
"Jake... don't tell Hoonie this... but I prefer your hair much more over his," I sighed as Jake's hair actually did what I wanted it to and laid down perfectly on his head, "see how fast that went?"
He laughed at me before nodding, making his hair bounce back and forth, before walking out to the others as Jungwon stepped up to get his hair fixed as the last person in line.
"Heeseung-ie hyung said my forehead should be more prominent," he spoke up and I nodded at him.
"I know... I was there," I reminded him with a small smile as I began grabbing his hair and working on it.
I carefully grabbed small strands of his hair and began straightening it into it's place and did as Heeseung had told me I should do.
"Ji... you promised it wouldn't get awkward," he reminded me and I nodded in agreement.
"I know... but so far it's you who've made it awkward," I reminded him carefully placing a strand of hair to the side whilst it still were warm, "I'm acting as I normally would."
"Oh god... you're right," he sighed after a small silence, as he realized it was in fact him that had run off at any point I had neared him, "I'm the one who've made it this way."
"I'm afraid so," I nodded at him with a small smile before pulling the straightener out of the socket as I had finished up his hair.
"Am I done?" he questioned as I laid the straightener to the side to let it cool off.
"Hold on," I told him and began moving some strands about, away from his forehead, and just making sure nothing looked misplaced.
"Are you mad about me having made it awkward?" he questioned carefully as I adjusted his hair with a few light touches.
"No," I shook my head at him as I tilted my head to the side and squinted my eyes at his hair, "I guess I'm just... a bit down. It did seem a lot like you didn't like me."
"But it's the exact opposite," he pointed out and I nodded, assuring him that I knew that already, "I like you more than I should be."
"You know... you never actually let me reply to you saying that," I pointed out to him as I let my hands fall from his hair, finally satisfied with how it looked, "you're done."
"You actually had a reply?" he raised his brows at me, in shock, and I nodded, before pushing him a bit to the side and I jumped down from the counter and turned to my the mirror myself and pulled my hair over in a ponytail before pulling out a few strands of hair that framed my face neatly.
"Of course I had," I pointed out to him as I swiped my long bangs to the side, so they wouldn't cover my eyes, "you just never let me say it before you just excused yourself and left."
"I don't even know if I want to hear it though," he muttered and looked down at the ground, seeming sad at the mere thought.
"Hmm... well. I would've replied your feelings," I shrugged casually making his head snap up and look at me through the mirror with a frown, "you don't believe me?" I questioned arching a brow at him in amusement.
"Not really, no," he shook his head making me sigh at him, before smiling softly at his picture in the mirror.
"Well... I would've, I don't know how to prove it to you. But now you know, and please stop distancing yourself from me," I muttered and turned to walk out into the common room.
"Wait," he called out and I turned to look at him in confusion.
"What?" I questioned him with a frown as he took two rushed steps to reach up to me.
"Shut up, I just got a sudden boost of confidence," he muttered and quickly grabbed my face and placed his soft lips on mine just for a few seconds, not long and just softly and carefully, before he slowly pulled away again. It may have been short, but it sure felt like it lasted long, "we're gonna talk about this after the performance, okay?"
"Mhm," I hummed in reply with a nod still under the enchantment from the sweet kiss.
"And... I'm just gonna pull this down," he added on and pulled down in the edge of the black, high necked, crop top I had been given for my outfit.
"It's not gonna be the last time if I debut," I reminded him with a small laugh and he nodded with a tight smile across his lips.
"I know... but I'm still gonna act like this then," he pointed out before grinning up at me, completely having done a 180 from how he were just moments before, "afterall... we're technically a couple by now."
"Did I ever agree to that?" I let out a small laugh at him and he shook his head, whilst still grinning at me.
"But you didn't pull away when I kissed you," he shrugged, almost as if that had said everything.
"And that automatically means that I'm alright with it?" I questioned with amusement as I let out a small laugh.
"I know you are," he nodded in reply with a small smile.
The performance ended well and we were all quite proud. In the end Jake had been deemed as the best performer of this test, but the eliminated person would first be announced after five days into the next test. Which meant that in the middle of the next test there would have to be some adjustments to a unit team if not both, depending on who would get eliminated.
