As Selene sped away I caught a glimpse of Marcus's flying figure getting closer towards us until he slammed into Michael causing him to fly into the rear window. The glass shattered onto Selene and I as we ducked our heads down to avoid being cut. When Selene raised her head, she gave me a pleading look and gestured towards the two hybrids.
"Ok, I'll help Michael the best I can." I pulled out my guns and climbed through the rear window. When I got onto the bed of the truck the two men were fighting and throwing each other so hard that it became unsafe for me to use my guns so I holstered my guns and took off my jacket before whispering a small prayer to myself as I jumped the elder as he wrapped his hand around Michael's neck. When he realized I was on his back, he threw me off to where I landed about three feet away from him. When I got back on my feet I saw the two clawing each other to bits but they were healing so rapidly that it seemed that neither was touched by the other. Michael lunged at Marcus but was grabbed by the neck and pinned to the side of the truck. Once Michael was pinned, Marcus yanked Viktor's amulet off of Michael's neck. Once he had it in his hand he threw Michael off of the truck and Selene and I pulled out our guns and began firing at him. Once he got shot in one of his shoulders, he dropped the necklace and flew off the bed of the truck, towards my sister. Once he was at eh driver's side of the truck, he slammed his whole body against it and pushed us against the side of the mountain. While Selene was trying to get us back onto the road, I ran towards Michael and offered him my hand to pull him up. "Come on. He's not going to stop until he's too weak or he gets what he wants." the man who I began to see as a brother grabbed my hand and with my help climbed back onto the bed of the truck. As I was pulling him up I could hear gunshots upfront and the screeching noise of a wounded beast. When Michael finally got back onto the truck, Selene slammed the truck into the side of the mountain once more pinning Marcus between the mountain and the truck. Michael grabbed a hold of me and held me until Marcus was about half a mile away from the truck and Selene pulled us back onto the road. After we got back onto the road, Michael and I stood up. Michael began to shift back into his human self and he grabbed the amulet off of the floor of the bed.
"Are you ok Iris?" he asked me as he held my shoulders. "He didn't hurt you, did he?" I shook my head no and headed back into the cab of the truck with Michael. When we got back into the cab Michael asked Selene if she was ok. She just nodded as he began to put on a jacket that the trucker left behind. "He's a hybrid isn't he?"
"Yes" was all Selene said while I just nodded quietly.
When he got his jacket on, he pulled out the amulet to show us. "He wanted this, why?"
I just stared at the piece of jewelry but Selene spoke up. "I don't know but we have another problem," she said looking towards both hers and my greatest fear. The sun. It was beginning to peek out from behind the mountains. Selene and I could already feel the pain of the sunlight.
Michael looked at us with concern in his eyes before looking ahead to see a dirt road leading away from the main road. "Turn off up here" Before Selene could turn off the road the sun began to shine in our faces. I could feel my skin starting to burn. I let out a pained yelp. Michel looked at us and saw how we were starting to burn "Shit. Alright, both of you get down" He climbed on top of both of us and began to steer the truck. "Just keep your foot on the gas but stay down" I don't know what was happening, all I could do was brace myself for any form of a crash. Of course, knowing my luck, we crashed through two things and all Michael could tell us was to hold on. After knocking who knows how many things we knocked over, Selene finally slammed on the breaks. Once the truck completely stopped I accidentally hit my head against the dash. "Stay down," Michael told us softly as he got out of the truck. He grabbed a tarp and threw it over the truck to block out any sunlight that could harm us. I could hear the slamming of a door and the sound of metal being shredded and the sound of something wet being splashed against something. The splashing sound kept going for who knows how long. I began to doze off waiting for Michael to return for Selene and me when the door swung open. Michael held a blanket out towards us, "Come on,"
I looked towards Selene, "You go first. I'll be ok for a couple of minutes" Selene nodded and climbed out of the truck and into Michael's arms. I couldn't help but smile as he closed the door. He came back for me and placed me into a different cargo container than Selene.
He took the blanket off of me "Let me look at you."
"I'm fine Michael," I told him as he began to look over my chin and neck for burn marks to find that they already healed. "Told you so." I chuckle weakly "I just need to get some rest. Go take care of my sister and this time if there's an opportunity to either kiss or do something more with her, take it."
He chuckled and ruffled my hair. " Ok but you, Selene, and I need to talk about what was going on between you and Marcus." I nodded and he left. Once I was alone, I made a makeshift bed and fell into a nightmare awaiting sleep.
