Part 3: Chapter 6

After the girl ripped apart the lycan, Selene pulled over and had the man drive. She climbed into the back of the van but left the door open. "Iris, why don't you ride in the front. I'll take care of her. You need to rest." She told me.

I looked at the little girl and sighed. "Is that ok with you?" I asked her. She gave me a soft smile and nodded. "Ok, I'll be upfront." I climbed out of the van and into the passenger seat. The man gave me his hand to help me. "Thank you"

"Of course." He told me with a faint smile before his face went hard. He turned the van back on and we drove away from the city. I couldn't help but feel weak. I didn't drink a lot of blood and after being attacked by those Lycans, my energy is almost completely gone.

"Selene, how is she?" I asked about the little girl.

"She's not healing" She replied. My eyes widen.

"We have a doctor who can help her, at our coven." The man said looking back at Selene and the child.

Selene made no statement but a weak whisper broke the small silence. "How did you find me?" the little girl asked

"What's your name?"Selene asked dodging the question

"Subject 2" the little girl answered sounding almost confused. "And you are Subject 1, and she is Subject 4." Her weak voice told us. "I freed you and her. Do you not know who I am?" She questioned "They told me that I had no mother, that she died when I was born. I never believed it." So I was right. She's my niece. I have another family member. I couldn't help but feel happy at the thought."I felt you." The girl told Selene. "Saw images through your eyes and some through her's" Referring to me. "But then someone outside my door, they said since I was no longer a child, the wait was over." I felt my eyes glow in rage. This was a little girl. "That I'd be dead soon." I tried to get my breathing in order to help me calm down. I couldn't risk going beserk when we still had to find Michael. " And that my own mother, right next door with my aunt, would never know I'd existed"

"What did they tell you of your father?" Selene questioned. "They must have told you something. Do you see images through him?" She asked rapidly. I turned around and glared at her to back off. I know that she is worried about Michael but that is her daughter.

"No, Only you and some through her." the girl told us.

Selene roughly grabbed her arm and bit it. "SELENE!" I yelled at her as she drank her blood. She pulled away from the girl's wrist moments later with a sad and distraught expression. The girl backed away from Selene, clearly weak.

We kept driving down the road until the man stopped at some sort of dam. He and I jumped out of the van and he opened the side door then grabbed the child carrying her towards the dam. Once Selene got out I decided that I would get onto her later about her treatment towards the girl but right now that girl was in need of medical attention and some blood. We went in through the side entrance. As we walked through the area, I couldn't help but wonder what happened to this place. It was run down and just sad to look at. We kept going until the man laid the child down and began to move things out of the way to reveal a secret entrance. I walked to the child and watched her breathing become very labored. I moved her hair away from her face and offered her a gentle smile. She was my niece. I was going to treat her like one. "Thank you" she whispered to me.

I was confused. " Why are you thanking me, sweetie?"

"You're kind. Only one other person had shown me kindness and even they never fought off beast for me." she let out a weak laugh.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that. No matter what they say, you are still a child and you are still important." I looked at the man who gave me a slight nod after opening an ancient entrance. "That nice man is going to carry you again, I'll be right behind him if you need me to be." She nodded weakly and I moved out of the way for him to carry her. We climbed down the entrance and the stairs into a stone cavern filled with vampires. Great a big family reunion.
