As reality began to drift away, I began to fall deeper asleep until I could no longer hear the world around me. Instead of a dream, I slipped into so many memories. Memories of Marcus and I.

*Flashback to 600 years ago.*

Selene and I were taken to a huge castle far from our home. We were taken there by an older gentleman named Viktor. He seems so kind towards us, especially towards my sister but something in my gut said that he had something really big to hide from us and the world. As we entered a younger man came down a grand staircase.

"Viktor where were you?!" the man demanded as he walked towards us. I flinched at the sound of his voice. He slowed down once he saw my sister and me. "Who are they?"

"Not that it's any of your business but these girls were the last survivors of a lycan attack on their family." The older looking male said gesturing to us. "This is Selene" He gently placed his hand gently on Selene's shoulder. "And this is her sister, Iris" He just gestured towards me.

I just hid behind Selene as the man inspected us. "Hello. My name is Marcus." He said offering a small smile before holding his hand towards me. Unlike Viktor, I felt as though I could trust Marcus. He seemed to be sincere about who he is. I reached my hand out towards his and placed it onto his open palm.

Viktor seemed to notice how comfortable we were with each other even though this was the first time we have met. "Marcus why don't you get Iris a room while I do the same for Selene here." Marcus just nodded and led me up the grand staircase he came down not too long ago.

"So miss Iris, what truly brings you here to our home."

I looked up at the man and felt tears build up in my eyes. I may be 20 but sadly you're never too old to mourn for your family. "As that man said, my family was slaughtered. Selene and I were the only ones to live." Marcus looked at me with sorrow in his eyes.

"I understand" He wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we got to the room I would be staying in. "This is where you'll be staying for the time being. Please don't be afraid to ask me for anything."

*time skip 100 years*

I was currently sparring with a fellow vampire with practice swords before going out for another hunt. After about 20 minutes later I finally had the man pinned to the ground with the blade of my sword aimed at his throat. "Yield," I said with a glare that said I meant business. The man sighed and surrendered. As I began to get off of him when I suddenly heard the sound of clapping coming from behind me. I quickly turned around to see Marcus smiling at me while leaning against a pillar. "Lord Marcus!" I said smiling as I ran towards him. Once I got to him I gave him a huge hug.

"Hello, little Iris. I see you have been practicing your swordplay. I must say I am impressed at how much progress you have made." he commented as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Thank you. But sadly according to Viktor, I'm still not as good as Selene." I said feeling a bit down. I guess Marcus noticed and ruffled my hair. "One day I'm going to be as good as Selene. One day."

"Oh, little one. You are better than you think. I know that Viktor is a pain, to say the least, but never let him bring you down. You are an amazing warrior who was taught by Amelia herself."

I smiled at my mentor/ big brother figure when I heard the clicking of heels coming up to me. I turned my head and saw my trainer in the flesh. "Lady Amelia" I left Marcus's arms and ran towards the lady warrior. "Why have you come back to the Southern Coven?" I asked bowing slightly towards the woman before me.

"Viktor and I have somethings to talk about and while I was here I thought I should see my brightest pupil while I'm here." she gave me a soft smile. "How have you been my dear?" she asked as she brushed my hair out of my face.

I frown slightly. "Not all that great. Viktor has me training so much its all I know. He seems to think I'm not good enough to be a death dealer, unlike my sister. I love Selene but I don't care about Viktor all that much." I answer my master's question solemnly.

I felt a pair of arms wrap themselves around me. "I'm sorry my dear. I know that Viktor is quite a power-hungry man but please know that you are the strongest and brightest pupil I have ever had. Please don't doubt yourself." I hugged the seasoned female warrior.

"Thank you milady."

*Time skip to the night before Marcus goes into hibernation."

I was wakened up by a rapid knocking on my door. I looked towards my pocket watch to see that the sun still had 3 hours before it set. I was not happy. I marched towards my door and pulled it opened to reveal the most annoying man in the vampire race. "What is wrong with you Kraven? I'm trying to sleep here!" my eyes began to glow as my anger grew.

"Hello to you as well Iris," Kraven said sarcastically.

"What do you want?"

"Marcus wishes to speak to you before he is put into hibernation tomorrow." When he told me that I felt my anger leave me and I ran past the vermin. I ran to Marcus's chambers. Once I reached his chambers, I banged on the door. "Marcus, Kraven said you wanted to see me before you go into hibernation."

The door swung open revealing an angry Marcus. "Finally" he grabbed my arm gently and pulled me into his chambers.

"What happened this time?" over the centuries, Marcus has become a big brother to me like Viktor was a father figure towards Selene.

"Viktor is putting Kraven in charge while we are in hibernation." Now I get it. Marcus doesn't care for Kraven but he seemed to have a deeper reason for disliking the man.

"I'll be ok and so will the coven. Not everyone is a mindless drone." I tell him before sitting down on his bed. I let out a long yawn.

" I know that little Iris but I still don't trust that man." He said and then heard my yawn. " Can a big brother ask to go to sleep with his little sister before the big day?" I nodded at the man before laying down on his bed and he joined me. "I'm going to miss you little Iris."

"I'm going to miss you too big brother," I tell him as I started to drift into a deep sleep.

*waking up from the dreams/memoires*

I woke up with the sound of my container being opened. I grabbed my gun and aimed at the door only to find Michael opening the door. "Jeez Michael. Are you trying to get shot?"
