Time Skip
After Tanis told us about the person who could stop Marcus we got back into the car and drove down the mountain to the docks. As we were driving I looked out the window thinking about what all have happened ever since we met Michael. We find out that Viktor had our family killed, that Michael was a descendant of Alexander Corvinus and was technically Marcus's nephew, that Lucian wasn't a monster but a kind soul who went through hell just because he loved a vampire, that Marcus was in fact the true ruler of the vampires and that he won't hurt me because of our bond. All of these things have me so confused and angry but sad as well. To know I was basically the leash that kept Marcus from dethroning Viktor. To know that the man I held in his final moments was unintentionally the reason my family was killed. There was so much going through my head while we were driving to the pier. Just as we got there I felt as though something terrible was just at bay.
Selene pulled up the edge of the dock and put the car in park. We all stared out to the ship on the water in the distance in silence. It took Michael to break the silence. "How do we know Tanis isn't setting us up?" He questioned looking to Selene. I swear those two were a match made in heaven.
I kept quiet in the back before Selene answered. " He's not brave enough to set us up. Especially me."
Suddenly a dog lunged at her car door, barking and growling at us before getting down to let it's handler upfront to shine a light in our faces. He started to speak in Hungarian. "You're trespassing. Get out of the car slowly, so I can see your hands"
We didn't move to get out. Instead, Selene started to speak in Hungarian herself. "We're here to see Lorenz Macaro"
The man seemed to be on edge and repeated "Get out of the car slowly. Show me your hands"
We still weren't moving Selene then asked in Hungarian. "So you want to see my hands, do you?" She placed her hand on the window pressing the necklace against the glass. He stared at the necklace in shock and looked back at her. He gave us a nod and we all got out of the car and followed him to a small motorboat that took us to the ship. We were taken to a beautifully decorated office.
The guard took the necklace from Selene and placed it into an older looking man. I could already tell that Selene was more than impatient and Michael seemed to be on edge. I on the other hand was relaxed. The man in front of us seemed stern but the air around him was similar to Marcus. I wonder why.
The man looked at the necklace intensely before looking up at us and his guards before pointing at the said guards "You can go." When they left the room we all watched them leave to turn and see that the man was staring at the necklace with a slight smile on his face.
"You're familiar with this, then?" Selene questioned.
He looked directly at her and leaned forwards with the key in hand before pressing the middle jewel releasing the blade. "Intimately"
Selene and I looked at him with curiosity. I happened to look at his ring and saw the insignia. The same insignia that was in Tanis's book. The insignia that belonged to Alexander Corvinus. "You're him, Alexander Corvinus," I said staring at his ring. "Marcus's father." Michael looked at the man shocked and the man, in turn, looked at me shocked that I knew who he was.
"There was a time" He pushed his chair out and stood up " When I was known by that name." He walked to Michael with the key in hand before handing it to him. "By any name, I am still your forefather."
Michael and Alexander had a short staring contest before Michael took the necklace and put it back on before Selene spoke up. "How have you stayed hidden all these years?" Alexander looked at her for a moment before turning to Michael once more then began to walk away from him and back towards his desk.
