After a few agonizing minutes, I drank two blood bags that I found in David's room. Must be nice to have your personal blood bank in your room. I watched the little girl sleep calmly and safely. I began to look around the room and saw that he didn't have many personal items. Nothing of his mother, very little things of his father, nothing about a lover, or anything that seemed personal. I could feel my curiosity get the better of me and decided that I should just wait for the girl to wake up but I wanted to speak with Sir Thomas alone, so I walked out of the room in search of him. I didn't have to look far because he seemed to have been waiting for someone outside of David's room. " I know you don't think much of me."

I scoffed. "No I don't think much of you but I do know of you." I pulled out my sword. "Do you recognize this?"

He looked at me with wide-eyes as I handed it to him. "How do you have this?"

"Lady Amelia. She gave it to me, as she gave me these bracelets. I wasn't lying when I said she trained me. I loved her like a mother and I loved Marcus like a brother."

"Why are you telling me this?" He asked me gripping the sword.

"Because I know that the man who my teacher loved, is still under that hard exterior." He looked at me shocked. "Yes, I know all about the affair. She loved you so much and was heartbroken when she had to leave you and leave her son."

"Why would she tell you about us?" He questioned me

"I honestly don't know Sir Thomas." I walked over to him and took my sword back. "Does he know?" I asked referring to David. He shook his head no. "Why not? He deserves to know about his mother."

"I agree, but she made me vow not to tell him or to let our affair nor our son be discovered by elders." His eyes began to tear up.

"I understand." I looked at the design on the blade. "You made this blade with her in mind, did you not?"

"Yes"

"She told me that, I needed to care for this sword. When she told me that, her eyes were filled with love and sadness. I promised that I would care for this sword and use it the way she taught me to."

"And I thank you for it." He gave me a soft smile before turning serious again. "Was what you said about Marcus true?"

"Which part?"

"That you mourned for him?" He said standing tall.

I bowed my head to hide the tears that began to fill up my eyes. "Yes. I gave him every chance to let go of the idea of taming William. Of letting his brother roam free but it wasn't enough. I watched him kill Alexander Corvinus and then I watched my sister kill him, my brother, the first vampire to ever show me true kindness." I took in a sharp breath before looking back at Thomas with tears falling from my eyes. "So yes I mourn for my brother and I wish I could have changed his mind and ways but I couldn't so now I have to live with the guilt of being the reason he is now dead." I wiped my tears away with my hand. "I know you think very little of Selene and me because we killed Viktor to protect Michael. I know you would rather we allowed Michael to die and I know you don't care for the fact that we are here but please don't take it out on that little girl. She is innocent." I walked away from Thomas and towards where I last saw Selene and David heading.

When I got down the hall, I saw so many weapons and different types of armor throughout the ages. As I walked down the hall I couldn't help but remember all of the stories of battle Amelia and Marcus told me about before I was turned. I really miss them. I started to hear Selene and David's conversation. I walked towards them. Selene turned her head towards me. "Iris, is everything ok?" I nodded.

David turned around and saw my eyes red and puffy. He walked towards me and placed his hand on my cheek. "You've been crying." He stated and wipes away the last bit of tears on my face. " Why?" I closed my eyes. "It's ok to tell people."

"Not now. I'm more worried bout the girl and Michael." I tell him as I grabbed his hand and pulled his hand away from my face. I gave him a slight smile and looked towards Selene to see a death dealer trench coat behind her. "Why is there a death dealer's jacket here?"

David turned around to look at the object I just pointed out. "My father says that we should survive as a species, these relics will help our descendants know who we were and how we lived." We all began to walk away from the jacket and down the hall. As we walked down the hall David kept his arm around my waist.

When we reached the end Selene asked. "And what do you say?"

He tightens his grip before saying "That if we continue to live as we do now, then we disgrace the past" He looked down at me and caressed my cheek " and we don't deserve a future." He dropped his hand and looked at Selene. "We must resist the human, wherever and whenever possible."

Before Selene or I could speak Sir Thomas's voice beat us to it. "Between the first and second purges," we all jerked our heads towards where the elder vampire stood. " Lycan youth rallied in the same way against the prudence of their elders." He walked down the stone stairs. "Their calls for violent action carried the day. The result? The werewolves are nearly extinct." Thomas walked to his son. I began to back away to give the two space. "Is that what you wish for us, extinction?" he asked his son. "Yet you bring her offspring into our home. Do you honestly believe the humans will allow her to remain free?" He then looked at me. "They will hunt her down at any expense. All of them." He looked back at David.

David gripped my hand before raising his voice at his father "Then we can help protect them."

Thomas seemed offended at the mere thought. "PROTECT THEM!?" He raised his voice but then calmed down. "They leave tonight."

He turned to leave when David said. "This isn't prudence. This is cowardness. Plain and simple."

Thomas turned around in anger. "How dare you?"

"How dare you do so little?" David rebutted.
