Harana - a tradition where someone sings underneath the window of the one they love

(not dating in this, also very unoriginal)
michael is usually the sappy sweet one so i'm mixing it up with jeremy

IM ON A PUBLISHING ROLL!!!

also the lyrics are a little different to fit the characters and i'm skipping one verse

jeremys pov
i cant believe i'm doing this. i'm gonna make a fool of myself. michael obviously doesn't like me. AHHHH.

my own brain is fighting with itself as i head to the familiar house down the street with my ukulele. i smile to myself as i remember michael teaching me the instrument.

i had to at least give it a shot.

i approach the all too familiar white house that was basically like my second home. i stop in front of michaels window and pull the ukulele strap around my neck and under my arm. i knew that michaels moms were on a business trip, so he was home alone.

i took a shaky breath and i prepare.

i start strumming.

'i met you in the dark
you lit me up
you made me feel as though
i was enough

we danced the night away
we smoked too much
i held your hair back when you were throwing up

then you smiled over your shoulder
for a minute i was stone cold sober

i pulled you closer to my chest
then you asked me to stay over
i said
"i already told ya, i think that you should get some rest"'

i refused to look at the window, in case he wasn't there. but i started to sing a bit louder.

'i knew i loved you then,
but you'd never know
cause i played it chill
when i was scared of letting go

i knew i needed you but i never showed
but i wanna stay with you
until we're grey and old

just say you won't let go
just say you won't let go'

i looked up to see michael looking back down at me. i couldn't read his expression, but i kept singing.

'when you looked over your shoulder
for a minute i forget that i'm bolder
i wanna dance with you right now

and you look as handsome as ever
and i swear that everyday you get better
you make me feel this way somehow

i'm so in love with you
and i hope you know
darling, your love is more than worth it's weight in gold

we've come so far my dear
look how we've grown
and i wanna stay with you until we're grey and old

just say you won't let go
just say you won't let go'

when i looked back at the window he was gone. i kept singing. but then i saw him walk out the front door and approach me.

i sang this directly towards him.

'i wanna live with you
even when we're ghosts
cause you were always there for me when i needed you most

i'm gonna love you till
my lungs give out
i promise we'll part
and i mean it now

so i sing this song for you
now we both knows

that it's just you and me until we're grey and old

just say you won't let go'

i walk towards him.

'just say you won't let go
just say you won't let go
just say you won't let go'

i strum the last chord and set the ukulele down.

i look back at michael who has tears running down his cheeks and a giant smile on his face.

"so, umm... what did you think?" i ask, rubbing the back of my neck.

"what did i think? *sniffle* jeremy, that was amazing. i love you so much." he cries as he engulfs me in a hug.

i hug back and bury my face into the crook of his neck. "i love you." i whisper.

"jeremy?"

"hmm?"

"you do realize you could've just confessed like a normal person." my face flushed from embarrassment.

"w-well there's no fun in that." i mutter.

"i'm just kidding, you dork." he ruffles my hair and soon his lips meet mine.

and neither of them let go from then on.

i don't really like this but whatever, i need to put out chapters anyway
