Riddhi felt Jai's hand in hers and all was right with the world.
Well that would be true if she wasn't daydreaming in History Class. She rested her head between her hands and her eyes closed with her breathing softly and soothingly, letting out an occasional sigh that pierced the quiet air. Her thoughts swirled as she visit the Wonderland that was the dreams she had in the middle of the day.
And she was not conscious that Mr. Biner was staring right at her, patiently awating her waking, with a large ruler in his hand.
She felt Jai getting closer and closer to her face, and she could feel his hand on her cheek, caressing her face. She could see his lips getting ever closer, feeling the warmth of his soft hand on her face. She could see his eyes looking into hers, time and space frozen. Riddhi's heart started to pump as their lips came ever so close.
She could hear him whisper softly.
"Riddhi... Riddhi..."
Jai sounded more rough than usual...
"Riddhi... Riddhi!"
She woke up with a bolt of her head and fuzzy eyes. Her hair was a complete mess and her mouth was dripping saliva. She was blushing red as she realized her state. She tried desperately to press her fingers through her hair and make herself pretty again.
Jai looked at her across the room and, as usual, thought she looked as beautiful as always. His eyes were stuck on her, and she could not divert his gaze from her desperate figure. Not even to complete his notes on World War ll.
"Riddhi, care to explain to the class the cause of your little... nap?" Mr. Biner asked, his eyes stern and questioning.
She composed herself and looked panicked up at the teacher. "Uh... erm..."
Jai was laughing softly, because she looked adorable and she was too nervous to answer.
"Nothing Riddhi?" Mr. Biner asked, his eyes stern from behind his large glasses. His mop of white hair had never looked more intimidating. "Maybe a four page report on World War ll will clear your mind. It's due tomorrow."
Riddhi sighed and buried her head again between her arms. She breathed heavily again as Mr. Biner walked up to the blackboard and started another lecture on the importance of Hitler's speeches during the army's rendezvous.
Jai was scribbling on a piece of paper, his black pen moving fast as Riddhi looked up from her cave between her arms. He scrunched up the paper as soon as he was finished, and then waited for Mr. Biner to turn around to write on the blackboard before he threw it. It landed perfectly in the gap between Riddhi's arms.
She bolted up and looked strangely at the piece of crumpled paper between her arms. She looked both sides before picking it up between her trembling fingers, to see what was written in this mystery paper.
Had a nice nap? -Jai
Riddhi smiled at the piece of paper as she looked up to check if Mr. Biner was still writing. And he was. She took out her blue pen, and started scribbling on the piece of white crumpled paper. She finished and tossed it over to Jai's desk. She missed and it hit the wall behind him, it bounced and landed once more on his desk.
He gave her a smile with a glance as he unwrapped the piece of paper. His eyes started reading it's contents and his smile grew wider as he read the first pair of words.
Oh, shut up. I didn't sleep all night.
He didn't want to worry, and yet he did. Jai did not like his... girlfriend... Damn it sounded so unusual, he felt he didn't deserve to call her that... to be tired all the time. He didn't think he deserved to call her that but he did anyways, because he loved her and wanted to be with her. His pen scribbled over the paper, in black ink.
