He was a bright happy child, always curious about all that surrounded him. By Five years old the boy was reading books on the world, by seven he had found the beauty of shakespeare and often wondered what kind of love would drive a man to come up with such stories. He was smart, that became clear to his parents when teachers rallied together when they believed the boy was just too advanced for their classes. He skipped multiple grades and at fifteen years old he was nearly done with high school. Along the way he had made many friends, most of them older though, and most of them were teachers themselves. He had a good sense of humor and while seemingly very mature for his age he did have plenty of bouts of what many would call childish fun.
His parents worried for him, worried no one would quite understand their very special child. He was growing up way too fast for them, but they knew all they could do was be supportive. So when the boy who at nearly eighteen came home from his third year at college and told his parents he had found his interest finally, well, they were surprised. When he told them he had enrolled and been accepted into the finest medical school in Seoul they weren't just stunned but curious as to what made the young man change his mind from being a Biochemist to being a Doctor.
He explained his new found love for medicine and treating patients, his parents were the ever supportive types and simply nodded in acknowledgment and hugged their son tightly. They wished nothing but the best for him. So the boy started his journey into the medical field. His professors were impressed, he passed every exam with flying colors. He had become somewhat of a campus celebrity, known for being unusually bright and also very good looking. The good looking part he was use to by now, and even though he was in his mind old enough he still hadn't found that special girl yet, but he would often dream of the love he'd read about in his books as a child.
He had dated a few girls here and there, none of them holding his interest for very long though. Mostly they wanted to talk about themselves, some showed him a little attention but when he'd talk about the books he likes and his favorite medical inspirations the girl he was on a date with would often end the date a bit... short. He didn't understand why he couldn't find a girl who wanted to talk literature, and medical things, a girl who could also joke around and play like a kid with him.
Medical school proved to be the challenge he wanted mentally, and he soon became fond of the unusual types of medical cases. He wanted that challenge but he also liked the idea of taking care of the patient. His professor in his second year told him about a good friend of his who was looking for help with patients at a private hospital for terminally ill patients. Most of those patients having illnesses that were being studied in hopes of finding a cure. This wasn't a job, more of an opportunity to shadow a very good doctor in the field of unusual cases. The boy was more than happy to have such an opportunity. Once he got home to his parent's house, he told them right away. Maybe this would be what he was looking for, what he needed in his life. He became very excited and couldn't wait for Monday morning when he'd get to meet this doctor and get to see first hand what making a difference feels like.
When Monday morning came the young man showered, dried his hair, put on his best scrubs and had a large breakfast. He just couldn't stop smiling, he felt so happy. He was looking forward to his first day.
(Just figured I'd give you part one since it was so short. Might put out part 2 tomorrow, or later. We'll see. This won't be updated every week though, I'm still getting How To Love The Moon done.♥ Enjoy ♥)
