I looked up to see Natasha looking back at me.
"Nat?"
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"I could ask the same thing about you," I said
"I asked first," she said.
"Why can't I just go to galas?"
"You don't strike me as the type"
"What, rich?"
"Yea true," I conceded.
"I'm just looking for someone," I said.
"oh."
"I'm protecting someone for Fury," Nat said.
"A bodyguard mission?" I asked.
"Yep, I don't usually get those so this should be important," she said.
"I better get back"
"Yea ok, see you later," I said.
We split up and each went our opposite ways.
After another couple of minutes of wandering around, I finally found the target.
He was tall, around 6'2.
Oh whatever. He was basically tall, dark, and handsome.
I guess Grover didn't get close at all because he was really giving off son of Hades vibes. Dark slicked back hair and a black suit. Just radiating pure power.
I noticed Natasha again nearby though.
I walked over curiously.
"Is this a coincidence?" I asked.
"I dunno you tell me"
I pointed to the teen to cut right to the point. In return she also pointed to someone.
Oh thank the Gods it wasn't the same person. But they were standing together.
"Is who I'm looking for your target's son?" I asked.
"Yes," Nat said.
"Lemme go get Annabeth, I'll be back in a second," I said.
There was no way I could think of a good cover story right away to tell Natasha but I trusted Annabeth could. Just our luck this would happen. I wonder if it would be a problem if someone important enough to need Black Widow's protection's son disappeared.
I finally got to the snack bar and thankfully Annabeth was already there waiting for me.
"Ok so I found them, they are definitely a son of Hades, and Natasha's here to protect his dad," I rambled.
" Ok calm down, we'll figure it out," she said, somehow knowing what I just said.
"We need to convince Natasha and his father to take him away then, if we just take him or if he runs away that may cause too many problems," she said.
"Let's first just go and talk to him and see what he's like. If he doesn't believe easily that would be a problem too."
"Sounds good to me," I said.
We started heading over and Annabeth continued analyzing the situation.
"This is a problem. His mother may have told the guy she married that he was just a child from another man, or she told him the truth. We won't know until we talk to them."
"Also he might have a lot of pride in his family, being from a rich family. Who knows how will react when he realizes he was adopted."
"Yep," I chimed in.
I nodded to Natasha as we passed her to hopefully show that we were going to approach them.
"Hello," Annabeth greeted, offering her hand for a handshake.
"Oh hello gorgeous," he flirted.
Oh hell no.
Annabeth held me back predicting what I wanted to do. I sighed. That was fair, he probably thought Annabeth was going up to flirt with him after all.
I walked up too.
His eyebrows raised and he looked back at Annabeth confused what her intent was now.
"We need to talk about something, hopefully somewhere private?" Annabeth asked.
He smirked.
"About your biological father," I stated, to clear up the situation at took a wrong turn somewhere.
Back to confusion.
"Please just follow us"
Annabeth led the way and he thankfully did follow us. Once we got to a nice secluded corner, she stopped and turned to talk to him.
"We probably don't have much time so I'll cut straight to the point. Greek mythology is real and your father is one of the Gods, and not the dad you know," she said, all in one breath.
He just stared at us.
"You guys are fucking crazy," he said, and turned around to leave.
Annabeth and I looked at each other in frustration and desperation.
"Hold on man, let her explain more," I said, trying to convince him to stay.
BOOOM
The walls started falling and an explosion went off right where he was heading back to, and where his dad was.
Annabeth screamed at me, "PROTECT HIM!"
I knew she could take care of herself, so I rushed forward so he wouldn't get buried in the debris. I saw Nat running towards my direction, dragging his father behind her.
Was he the target of the explosion?
Looks like they were set on getting rid of him because that was when gunfire started going off.
"Styx," I swore as I grabbed the kid's arm.
"Let go of me!" he yelled, trying to swat my arm away.
"Stop I'm trying to protect you! It's obviously your dad that's being targeted here!" I yelled over the gunfire.
"Exactly, let me go!"
I didn't need to hold on to him anymore because Natasha ended up running towards me.
"You need to get out of here come on," she said.
Annabeth also caught up to us and looked over Natasha's shoulder worried.
"Um guys, look," she said.
Nat slowly turned around and I also looked to see the kid's father held at gunpoint.
"Father," demigod sneered, confusing Annabeth and me.
"Give me the flash drive or else your father dies," the shooter threatened.
"I know your father gave it to you because he knew he would be attacked"
"I don't have it," he answered lazily.
"I do," Natasha said, pulling it out of her pocket.
