"So when did they decide that we needed help?" Tony asked as we sat uncomfortably at SHIELD.
"Since you can't restrain even a single mutant without destroying the whole city," Fury stated.
"Did you not see the city?" Clint asked.
"Shhh...," I cut him off. "You're welcome guys, I know I was a lot of help."
"You lost both your knives in the first 5 minutes!"
"Ehhh whatever, no biggie," I said.
"Where did you even come from?" Tony asked.
"Fury told me to go."
"Perfect time to introduce you, welcome your newest team member." Fury introduced.
"When did I agree to this?" I asked.
"Why were you so late?" Fury asked, brushing off my question. Seriously, did this guy have no consideration for others?
"I came straight from my house, what did you want me to do? Learn how to teleport there?" heheh I could.
"What if something bad happened in that time that you could have prevented?" he asked. "Like preventing a building from being blown up?" he said as he glared at Tony.
"Then why doesn't he just come and stay with the rest of the team?" Steve asked, not completely catching on to the atmosphere.
"Good question." Fury said.
"Arghh," I groaned. "I'm obviously wearing the mask for a reason," I explained.
"Are you like really ugly or something?" Tony piped in.
"Or something," I mumbled.
"Or something? I'm sure you look fine, lemme take a look," Clint joked as he reached to take off my mask. However, his hand stopped inches away from my face. "I'd rather not," I said through my clenched teeth.
"Ok, ok," Clint said as he backed off, rubbing his wrist. Loki looked amused off to the side but that wasn't anything new.
"I don't see what the big deal is," Natasha interrupted. "The tower's big enough to not run into people," Tony added.
"Alright that's just showing off now," I said.
"Let's get going now," Tony said.
That's how I got dragged here, standing in the entrance of "my room."
"I don't even have any clothes."
"Ask SHIELD to send some over. It doesn't look like you need much... variety."
"... thanks."
"It's everyone from themselves for dinner by the way. I'll leave you to settle in then."
This was going to be so much trouble wasn't it. I soon got bored of the room, however grand it was. I found my way to the kitchen and looked through the pantry.
"Are there any more marshmallows left?" a voice entering the room asked. I tossed Peter the bag in the cabinet I was looking through.
"Aren't those a little big for hot chocolate?" I asked, questioning his choice of the jumbo fluff.
"S'mores," he corrected, showing me the graham crackers and chocolate he grabbed from the cabinets nearby.
"Sick, lemme make some too." He grabbed a plate and was about to go to the microwave when I stopped him. "Wait, wait, the microwave?"
"Yeah what's wrong with that?" he asked defensively.
"I mean go ahead, but you could use the stove," I said. I walked over and turned the knobs above the stove, spurring the flickering flames to come alive. I skewered a marshmallow on a wooden stick and watched as the flames licked the sugar. "Almost the real thing," I showed Peter.
"Scoot over," he said as he also prepared his marshmallow. I blew off the flame and slid my blackened marshmallow between a generous amount of chocolate and two graham crackers.
"Hmm, this is good."
"Lemme try mine," Peter said, biting into his s'more. "Gooey," he remarked as a white string trailed from his mouth.
