He's gone the next morning. Yoongi almost does a double take because he's not sure if he's seeing things right. But his car is the only one in the lot. He doesn't know if he should rejoice or be nervous.
He decided on the first one because as he crossed the street and wandered down the block to the bus stop, he could see Jimin sitting on the bench, tapping his fingers lightly against his leg. Yoongi lets out a sigh of relief until he manages to reach the younger. He then sucked in a sharp breath, and felt his throat closing up.
Under his hood, Jimin's eye is black, and slightly swollen. His bottom lip is split, and he looks exhausted. Yoongi can make out a faint handprint from around his throat. For a split second Yoongi is angry with Jimin - angry for not doing anything about this man or at least calling the cops on him, but then his anger is suppressed because one look at Jimin is enough for Yoongi to know why he hasn't. Yoongi has gotten a good look at the man from before. He's a lot bigger than Jimin is, and having the chance to get to know Jimin over the past three months was enough for him to learn that Jimin was rather shy. He's not surprised that his ex could overpower him and make him scared.
Jimin jumps in surprise when he notices Yoongi standing there, and it makes Yoongi sick with how easy it is for Jimin to slip into an 'it's okay, everything alright, let's pretend like nothing has happened' mentality. He's jumping up - and Yoongi doesn't miss the wobble in his stance as he smiles at him. "Hi!" Jimin chirps. "I missed you!"
"I missed you too," Yoongi replied.
Confront him, his brain said.
"Did you have a good time with your family?" Yoongi forces out instead.
"I did!"
He can't help but ask.
"What did you do to your face Jiminie?"
"Would you believe me if I told you that I raid into a lamp post?" he giggled.
No. I wouldn't. Not now, not ever.
But Yoongi doesn't say anything. He's just as complicit as Jimin. He lets out a heavy sigh and shakes his head. He brings one hand up to Jimin's face, cupping his cheek. "Why do you scare me like this?" he breaths. "I ask you time and time again not to get hurt and what do you go and do?"
"I get hurt," Jimin mumbled.
Yoongi brings his other hand up now to cup his other cheek. He wants nothing more to kiss away the bruising on his face, but he holds himself back. Yoongi can't take this. He pulls Jimin in for a bone crushing hug, surprising the younger. "I promise I'm not playing tricks on you," he whispered in his ear. "You're always welcomed to come in if you ever need to talk about-" He doesn't finish his sentence. He doesn't know how to. "-that's what friends are for Jimin. They listen,"
Jimin doesn't reply. Yoongi can feel him shaking in his hold, and he's tucking his head against Yoongi's neck. He can feel his lips against the skin of his collarbone and his soft, uneven breathing. Jimin is holding onto him tightly. "Thank you,"
