For once, there's no rain. There are no grey clouds - in fact, the sky is cloudless that afternoon - and the skies are a bright blue. He can smell Spring, which sounded a little silly, but to him it made sense. It was still chilly out - not quite t-shirt and shorts weather, but he could lay comfortably outside on the grass in a long sleeve and his holier than thou jeans.
He had found an old quilt in his hall closet - something he'd picked up at a thrift store during the first month he'd lived here and sprawled it out on the grass so he didn't get wet. Yoongi found it crazy that he'd already been living there for almost six months now. Where had the time gone? He wondered.
He closed his eyes as he soaked up the sun that graciously beamed her rays down upon the earth. Yoongi couldn't wait until he could do this everyday, when the weather was a lot more inviting, and he could make music outside, rather than be cooped up inside all the time. Excitement filled him then - he remembered how Noah wanted to take a road trip this summer. They had done that once - when Hoseok had gotten his license. Their parents had allowed them to take a weekend trip to the next city over, and it had been one of the greatest weekends of his life. Maybe he could bring Jimin along with them...the idea only brought more of a smile to his face. Spending the summer with Jimin sounded wonderful.
"So the vampire has left the safety of his coffin,"
Yoongi's opening his eyes, and squinting in the sunlight. He can see Jimin hanging over his balcony, arms crossed underneath him, and staring down at Yoongi with a grin. He's in a t-shirt this time, the second time he's seeing him without a sweater on, and Yoongi likes it. He likes that Jimin isn't hiding his body under his clothes.
"I'm not a vampire!" Yoongi called up to him as he sat on his blanket. "I'd be burning now wouldn't I?"
"That's a myth!" Jimin shouted back. "Haven't you read Twilight!"
Yoongi rolled his eyes. "You should come join me!" He suggested. Jimin's pulling away from his balcony and disappearing into his own apartment. Yoongi loves how he didn't hesitate. It's like Jimin is slowly becoming more and more confident. But then he's back seconds later. "Are you going to let me in or not?" he questioned.
"The door's unlocked,"
"Tsk Tsk, that's so not safe, what if a serial killer broke in?"
"Just come down here already!"
"Okay! Okay! I'm coming!"
Seconds later, Jimin is slipping through his back door, and lying down next to him on the blanket. He's got his head resting on Yoongi's arm which had been sprawled out beside him, and Yoongi can feel his warmth again. It makes his heart race.
"I love spring," Jimin sighed contently as he closed his eyes.
"Spring is a little too cold for me," Yoongi admitted. "I prefer summer,"
"Spring is a chance to start anew," Jimin murmured. "Everything is coming back to life, and you too, can reinvent yourself if you want. Spring means new beginnings, new life, new...everything so to speak," and Yoongi is fascinated by his little ramble. "What's not to love about spring either? When the leaves are growing back, and cherry blossoms are blooming. I mean, sure there's rain, but a little rain never hurt nobody,"
"Summer is warm," Yoongi replied, turning onto his side so he could face Jimin. The younger opened his eyes, and rolled onto his side as well, lips inches from Yoongi's. "Summer means lying out in the sun, and for going on road trips with friends. Summer is shades of yellow, and orange, and red, and for golden hour when you lie in your bedroom in the late afternoon to soak up the last of the heat before it goes away for the night. It's about stargazing in fields and getting lost in the city. It's about trying new things. Summer is for adventures, and learning something new. It's about bonfires and long hikes. Summer is about finding yourself," and he can feel himself going red when Jimin closes his eyes with a laugh, and exhales in content.
"Summer is still a long way away," Jimin whispered, "But when it does come...promise me we'll do all of those things,"
"We don't have to wait for summer," Yoongi whispered back. He gently pushed Jimin onto his back and hovered over him. "-let's be spontaneous Park Jimin...just you and me, and this whole city before us,"
Yoongi wished he'd have kissed him then and there, but Jimin's smile was enough for him.
"Let's do it," he whispered.
And yeah, that was enough for Yoongi.
