Holding Me Back

Chapter 8

Narrator's POV

"Wait. Can you repeat that again?" Somin's eyes widened and tucked her hair behind her ears.

Somin laughed awkwardly as Jongkook gave her a small smile. "Stop joking around, oppa. You're too old for that," She playfully slapped his back.

"But I'm not joking," Jongkook gave her another smile.

As Somin stared at him suspiciously, Jongkook sighed and took her hands. He held them tightly and played with her hands.

He caressed her hands with his thumb. When Jongkook looked up, Somin's face was red.

He chuckled heartily. "Why is your face red? Does this make your heart race?" He teased Somin.

"Oppa, why are you flirting? That's supposed to be my job," She suddenly moved nearer to him and caressed his cheeks.  She caught Jongkook off guard. "Ah,r..really?" He seemed to back down.

"Oh? Why are your ears red? Does this make your heart race?" Somin threw back the question to Jongkook and teased him instead.

Jongkook's POV

She was so close to me. My heart wavered when she suddenly caressed my cheeks.

I didn't know she would counter-attacked me with the same question. She's really something.
Our faces were so close and I glanced at her lips. The tension was killing me.

Maybe, I do feel something about her. Maybe, I was starting to see her as a woman. I've never really thought Somin as something more than just a friend. After all, our age gap was 10 years.

"Yeah, this does make my heart race," I softly said, admitting to my feelings. Somin seemed surprised that I actually answered her.

Somin's POV

He felt something? My heart pounded when I heard that.

We were still holding hands and our faces were literally an inch apart. Today was definitely a rollercoaster. It felt like days with him. And thats what I wanted.  For time to be eternity with someone I like.

"Really? Me too," I replied as I glanced at his lips.

Narrator's POV

As Jongkook leaned in for another kiss, Somin turned her head suddenly and Jongkook kissed her cheek instead.

"Somin-ah, I can't believe you. Are you playing hard to get?" Jongkook scoffed in incredulity.

"Why? You want to kiss me so badly again?" She giggled. That made Jongkook smiled.

Her laugh was something adorable and contagious,now that Jongkook thought about it. Somin glanced at the clock and was shocked.

"Oppa, it's 10pm already? What the hell did we do?" She was flabbergasted.  Somin stood up and grabbed her bag. "I'll get going," She bowed to the man opposite of her.

Jongkook stood up and stared at her in disbelief.  "Did she just forgot that I was literally about to kiss her?" He thought to himself.

He sighed and nodded. "I'll give you a ride home," He grabbed his phone,wallet and keys. Ah, really? Okay then," Somin agreed and put on her shoes.

Jongkook's POV

As we got in the car, it was silent. It wasn't awkward anymore. It was comfortable and peaceful. I glanced at Somin,only to see her closing her eyes as a sign of tiredness. Today was very hectic.

It went from dancing, talking, Somin looking cute in my shirt, eating, arguing, kissing, arguing again and wanting to kiss again and now, I'm sending Somin back home.

I chuckled quietly as I thought back at how dumb it must sound and look. I've finally reached Somin's house and woke her up gently.

"Somin-ah,we've arrived," I shooked her body gently.

Her eyes opened and took off her seatbelt slowly.  "Oh. Thank you for sending me back home, oppa," She gave me a sweet smile and went out of the car while waving her hands.

As I waited for her to get back into her apartment, she suddenly turned back and ran towards my car.

I rolled down the window. "Why? Did you left something?" I searched the seat that she sat on and found nothing on it. She abruptly went in my car and sat down. My eyebrows frowned in confusion.

Narrator's POV

"Wha-" Somin pecked Jongkook on the lips, cutting him off. She held Jongkook's face and pecked his lips repeatedly before pulling away.

"Sweet dreams, oppa," Somin winked charmingly and went out of the car. She quickly ran into her house without looking back.

As Somin got into her house, her heart was still beating immensely. "Ah, Somin. When did you become so brave?" She spoke to herself and facepalmed.

On the other hand, Jongkook was dumbfounded. He was blushing. He touched his lips momentarily and laughed.

"That Somin..what am I going to do with her?" Jongkook leaned onto the steering wheel and smiled to himself. During that night,they kept thinking about each other.

But as soon as they realised, tomorrow will be the next dance practice with the other members. How will they act with the members around?
