Hopelessly Devoted

Reys POV

I was sitting down in my workplace thinking about whatever crossed my mind. Mostly it was about the resistance and what our new base should be in case of an attack. As I thought of this my thoughts somehow trailed to him. Ben Solo. I remember when I first met him at the academy. He was one of the nicest, sweetest, and gentlest people there. No wonder all the girls loved him.

"Ben. I would like you to meet Rey" Luke introduced

"Hi Rey. My name is Ben Solo" Ben greeted with a warm smile that can make anybody feel welcomed.

"Hi" Rey responded

"If you don't mind mind master, but would you like me to show Rey around?" Ben asked looking between Me and Master Luke

"Of course not. If that's alright with Rey" Master Luke chuckled looking at me for an answer

"Sure id love that" I smiled as he smiled back. I could've swore I saw a glint of happiness reflect in his eyes.

Ben showed me around the place. He showed where the classes were, the Cafeteria, the study room, the library, the huts, and Master Luke's office.

"I would suggest that you put on some more warmer and comfortable clothes you're freezing." Ben said worriedly as he looked at me

"W-well y-yeah.... I-I've never been In c-cold places before.... it was a-always a desert" I shivered. I watched as his face turned from worry to pity... probably from my background

"Here. This should keep you warm. Once you get to your hut which I will guide you to. You can take a shower and change into comfortable and warmer clothes other than this robe" he chuckled giving me his robe and placing it around my shoulders. I blushed at the sudden act of kindness.

"Are you sure? I can wait until we get to my hut" I said not wanting to get him cold like I was

"No it's fine. Once you live here longer the more you get used to it. I'll be okay" he smiled as I pulled the robe closer trying to collect the body warmth that was just there.

"Thank you Ben" I thanked as he nodded. We made it to my hut and Ben gave me a run down on everything to check if I needed anything. Once he made sure I was okay he told me to keep the robe just in case if I run out of clothing which I highly doubt. Once he closed the door shut I sighed happily as I made a friend. I went to bed drifting off to sleep as I cuddled more into the robe.

I heard beeps coming from R2 asking if I was okay. The poor droid has been calling me for 5 minutes. I didn't notice I had tears running down my cheeks until I felt the wet tear drops hit my hands. I quickly wiped them away and forced a smile on my face.

"*beep beep beep* (are you okay, Master Rey?)"

"Yeah I'm fine R2.... I'm just fine" I replied

"*beep beep beep beep* (why are you crying master?)"

I thought it would be ridiculous to tell a droid of my feelings knowing that they won't be able to understand but then Leias voice came in my head.

"Never underestimate a droid"

"Never underestimate a droid" I let out a breath through my nose smiling slightly

"I'm Sorry R2... it just hasn't been the same without Ben" I sobbed breaking out into tears I have been holding.

"*beep beep beep* (I miss him too. We can't lose hope yet)"

"I- I don't know if I can face him again.... every time I look at him without that mask reminds me of the sweetheart who made me feel safe and protected.... something I haven't had in a long time" I sniffled
