Telling the Parents

I was being shaken awake

'Alayna, baby."

"Hmm?" I opened my eyes to see a worried Antonio standing over me

"What's wrong?" I asked stretching

"You weren't answering your phone, and then I got home and you weren't there. What happened?"

"I lost my keys so I got a ride home. I called you." I yawned

"Yeah and I called you back five times."

"I'm sorry baby I'm just tired all the time." I said and he rubbed my cheek

"You scared me, I thought something happened to you, both of you." He said placing his other hand on my very small bump

"We're fine daddy." I said and he leaned down and kissed my cheek

"How did you lose your keys?" He asked with a smile

"I don't know! This was the only place I had a spare for."

"I'll go in late tomorrow and take care of everything after I drop you off."

"Really?"

"I got you baby." He said and I sat up

"Thank you."

"Did you actually get Chinese?"

"I did but it's at my place."

"Antonio." I whined I was so hungry

"You weren't answering the phone, you have nobody to blame but yourself."

"Well let me grab some clothes and we can go back to yours, where my Chinese food is." I said then I stood up

I watched as she moved around the room, he was sitting on the bed watching her, once her bag was packed he grabbed it

"See I'm going to wake up tomorrow with a grey hair because of this." He told her and she laughed

"Why do you want grey hair so badly?"

"Prove a point to you ladies." He said as they left the room, I listen for the door I heard it open and shut, and then I felt like I could breathe again. I waited a couple of more minutes then I came out of the closet. I punched the wall at the thought of her leaving with him. Why couldn't she see he wasn't good enough for her? It would take a little more time but I would make her see. I slipped back out the back door

"So you wanted to talk about something earlier." He said as we cleared the dishes from our meal

"Yeah I'm thinking about applying for the pediatric residency program."

"Wow ok does that effect the trauma program?"

"No but it will mean more work, my hours would change."

"Why the sudden change?" He asked putting away the dishes and I sat on the counter next to him

"Well that porch collapse a few weeks ago and I delivered that baby, and it was amazing, and Wallace has been on my mind a lot the only reason I was on that case is because the family requested it. Kids are awesome and if I can be of some comfort to them and their parents during what maybe the scariest time in their little lives, I want to do it."

"Ok."

"Ok?"

"Yeah, are the best doctor in this city , this is just one more step to be the best in the world. Don't stress yourself out though, you still have some precious cargo you're carrying." He said as he stood in between my legs

"I know and that that's why I wanted to talk to you about it before I did it. It's in my file that I'm pregnant the only hold up will be maternity leave."

"I can't get over this bump." He said rubbing my stomach

"You can barely see it."

"I see it, you see it that's all that matters that's our baby," He said leaned down and kissed it

"I want to skype my parents this weekend and tell them."

"I'm there." He said instantly, then kissed my bump again then he looked up at me

"I love you." He said and I froze

"If your not ready it's ok, but I've been holding back on saying this for awhile now, and I just can't do it anymore." He said standing to full height

"I love you." He said rubbing my cheek

"I love you too." I said and he pressed his lips on mine and I wrapped my arms around his neck. He moved his hands down to my waist and lifted me off the counter I wrapped my legs around his waist. He carried me upstairs. I kissed on his neck as he laid back in the bed , I sat up and pulled off my shirt his did the same and he pulled me down for a kiss I felt his hands move around my back and unhooked my bra I pushed it off my shoulders

"You are so beautiful." He grabbed my breast then he sat up and attached his mouth to my left breast. I moaned as his nipped and sucked then he switched over to the other. Then he kissed back up to my neck as I undid his pants, he helped me take mine off. Then he laid me back on the bed

"I love you." He said again as he pushed into me.

"I love you." I moaned looking into his eyes he moved faster as we got close I wrapped my arms around him tighter as we came together

"Damn." He said rolling off of me I laid there catching my breath looking at the love of my life things we're looking good

"Hey mom."

"Oh baby girl you look so pretty."

"Well I get it from my mama."

"You know it."

"Where's dad?"

"In the kitchen, his favorite room in the house."

"I heard that." He said appearing over her shoulder

"There is she is mi princesa."

"Hi papi."

"How's Chicago?"

"Cold, but listen I have someone I want to introduce you guys to." I said and they shared a look, then I looked at Antonio, and waved him over and he came and sat next to me

"Mami, papi this is Antonio, my boyfriend." I said taking his hand

"Well it's nice to meet you Antonio." My mom said

"You too Mrs. Cortez."

"Where are you from Antonio?" my dad asked and I closed my eyes and shook my head

"Born and raised here in Chicago."

"Do you have a job?"

"Dad."

"Ray stop it."

"I'm just asking the man a question." He argued and she looked at him and he got quiet

"Well we have something to tell you." I said

"Are you engaged?" She asked making Antonio choke on his water

"That's a little fast, you went there for work." Dad asked

"Just rip the band-aid off." Antonio said in my ear as my parents kept talking about our engagement

"I'm pregnant." I said and they looked at us
