"What?" I asked, starting to sob. Katie sighed, and said, "I'm so sorry, Sunshine."

"Stop apologizing, and tell me what's going on!" I yelled. Katie looked at me in shock, and I started sobbing. "I'm so sorry..." I said in between tears.

"No, no, Sunshine, you don't need to apologize. I guess I owe you an explanation. Alice got really sick and fainted, and Elle called an ambulance. She's in surgery now." Katie said.

"Is she gonna make it?" I asked. Katie sighed and said, "I don't know. I don't even know what's wrong with her."

"That doesn't help, Katie." I snapped. Katie smiled sadly at me and said, "I know, and I'm sorry. Do you want to visit her in the hospital once she's out of surgery or is that too much for you? Elle and Jess are at the hospital already, and I think Evan's coming too."

"I guess I'll go. It won't make me feel any better, but at least it'll be something. And I'm sorry for acting like such a brat." I said.

"You're not acting like a brat, Sunshine. You've been through a lot." Katie said. She started the car back up and we drove away. I put my headphones back in and started to cry.

I can't lose my sister. I already lost so much. I almost lost Jess, I lost Ethan.

Alice, well, she helped me through some of my insecurities. She was the first person I told about my body image issues. She was the first person I called when I found out about my blood disorder. She was there when I got my IV treatment.

She was my sister, and I didn't want to lose her. I can't lose her.

"Solla Sollew...Solla Sollew..." I started to sing.

"Whatcha singing?" Katie asked.

"Solla Sollew from Seussical. It's one of my favorites. It's a really sad lullaby, but I love it."

"Can you sing the rest?" Katie asked.

I starting singing the rest of the song, blinking back tears.

"That was beautiful." Katie said once I was done.

"Thanks." I said.

"Does singing help with your anxiety?" Katie asked, and I nodded. "Kind of. Whenever things are rough at home or at school, I go to the bathroom and sing to myself."

"That's a good idea." Katie said. "We're here."

I looked out the window, then looked at Katie.

"I'm ready." I said.

______________

"Cat's here." Evan said as I walked in Alice's hospital room. I ran to him and hugged him tightly.

"I feel so bad for Cat when I got your call. She was telling me about rehearsals and how much fun she had today." Katie said. My head was buried in Evan's chest and he was singing softly in my ear.

"Cat? How was rehearsal?" Jessica asked. I let go of Evan and squeezed his hand.

"Great. We found all the Spelling Bee props backstage. Like Victor's candy thing and the fog machine and the lollipop Dan Dad used. That was fun. We got through most of Act 1. And I learned that I cannot do a push up to save my life." I laughed.

"She's giggling. That's a good sign." Evan said.

"Wait, why did you have to do a push up?" Elle asked.

"The Military. JoJo becomes one of the General's Cadets." I said.

"That sounds like fun." Katie said, and I nodded.

"When is Alice gonna wake up?" I asked. Katie looked at Jessica and Jess looked at Elle.

"Um...Sunshine...they put her in a coma. She won't wake up for about a week." I burst into tears and Evan hugged me.

"It's okay. It's going to be okay." Evan said softly. He looked at Elle and said, "I'm gonna take her home."

I smiled at Evan and ran over to the sleeping Alice. There was an oxygen tube in her nose, but her chest was rising and falling steadily. I took a deep breath and kneeled on her hospital bed.

I pushed a strand of hair away from her face and kissed her forehead.

"Hi Alice. It's Cat. Sunshine. I miss you, I love you, and I hope you make it. On the off chance I'll never get to talk to you again, thanks for helping me through the last few months. You're so kind and funny, and the best big sister I could ever ask for. I hope I can see you again. I had rehearsal for Seussical today. That was so much fun. We finally got the wooden bathtub I stand behind for It's Possible, and it's actually really well-made. I wish you could see it. Oh, and I got fitted for my costume. I'll come back soon, I promise. I love you." I kissed her cheek and backed up.

"That was beautiful." Evan said.

"It sounded like her goodbye speech to Ethan. Which worries me. I think she's worried that Alice is gonna die." Elle said.

"I'm gonna try to have hope." I said.

"Good girl, Sunshine." Evan said.

"Bye Alice." I said, and walked out with Evan.
