Catlynn's POV

It was a couple of days since the car crash, the second one in a year. I was alone in the hospital, Elle had recovered and was busy getting food. And it was around six at night.

Suddenly, I heard the door burst open. A girl ran in, out of breath and sounding like she was crying.

"Cat? Cat, I'm so sorry..." the girl said, throwing herself on my hospital bed.

It was only then that I got a good look at her face.

"R-Red?" I asked. I couldn't believe it. Red Ashley was...somehow alive? Was this a dream or something?

"Yeah. It's me. Kit...it's me. I'm here. I guess you need an explanation." Red said, turning on the light.

"Yeah...I do!" I said, throwing my arms around my best friend. Who was somehow here.

"Okay...so...the subway crash really did happen. I wasn't lying about that. I barely made it out alive. But I was in a coma. For a while. And declared dead." Red said. I started laughing.

"I still can't believe it...you're here! Red!" I said, hugging Red tightly. "And how did you know I was here?"

"The crash you were in is all over the news. And by the way, I'm so, so sorry that you had to go through that. And you almost...died." Red said. I smiled.

Elle told me she couldn't believe I made it. Jessica told me I was lucky to not suffer the same fate she did.

I heard a knock on the door and then Ryan popped in. "I just wanted to see how you were-" Ryan backed up once he saw Red, a look of shock on his face. "Am I dreaming or is that-"

"Red. Yep. It's a long story." I said. Red cackled.

And then I realized. Red has changed a lot since I last saw her. Her hair was cut short, with red streaks in it. She seemed to have grown a few inches. And she got glasses.

"By the way...the D.C. trip. Are you going?" Red asked. I frantically nodded and smiled, not stopping. I still couldn't believe Red was here. Alive. Here. Hugging me. Here.

She was here. And she wasn't leaving. Ever.

________

A couple of hours later, I woke up. This time with Red frantically shaking me awake and giggling

"Wake up. Wake up. Wake up." I heard Red say. She was using a waterbottle as a maraca.

"Your one woman show can stop it's tour. I'm up." I laughed.

"Where's your mom?" Red asked.

"Hi Cat! I'm back!" Elle said. She gasped in shock when she saw Red.

"There's an explanation. Shortened version: Comas." Red said.

"Wait...what?" Katie asked, walking in behind Elle.

"Yeah. Hi Katie." Red said casually. I laughed.

"I can't believe this." Elle said, pacing the room with her head in her hands.

"How are you gonna tell Axel and Cesca?" I asked. They needed to know that the gang was back together.

"I went to their houses before coming here. Axel started crying and Cesca...dropped the plate of pasta she was holding and broke the plate." Red said. "That was hilarious."

"She deserves it." I said. "You know what? Elle? I think I'm going to switch back to Hamilton."

"What?" Elle asked. "Are you sure this is the right decision?"

"Yeah. I mean. Red's back, Violet's still at Jackson, I can get back with the old band kids, I can sell cookies with Red, Axel, and Cesca, there's still so much to look forward to." I said.

"But the election. The results are on the school website. I checked yesterday." Katie said.

"Yeah? What's the verdict?" I asked.

"You won. By a landslide. We didn't want to tell you until...you know...we knew you were safe." Katie said.

"You didn't tell me you wanted to run for Student Council!" Red yelled.

"I thought you were dead, silly!" I said. I sighed and turned to my mom and aunt. "And who cares about winning an election?"

I turned to Red and smiled.

"I have my best friend back. And that's all that matters."

AN: How's that for a plot twist! I'm so proud of myself! Hope you enjoyed! Catch ya later!
