Chapter 4

"What are you-" you start to say as you attempt to sit up, only to fall back down due to the excruciating pain coming from just below your right shoulder

You wince in pain as you look down to see bandages wrapped around your chest and over the top half of your shoulder

Your mother then places her hand gently on your shoulder

"Hey hey take it easy, relax-" She starts as she goes to place her hand on your forehead, only for you to back away

"How did you know I was here?" You say

Your mother opens her mouth to answer yet is cut off by the nurse now walking inside

"Ah Y/n, good to see you're awake." She says with a bright smile, bragging the attention of you and your mother

"How are you feeling?" She says as she come to the side of your bed

You shift uncomfortably as you look at your mother then back at the nurse
"Where is Moon Jo?" You ask

The nurse and your mother both look at each other just as your mother placed her hand gently back on your shoulder

You look up at her just as the nurse speaks back up, grabbing your attention again

"Don't worry, you won't have to see him ever again. You're safe now, I promise." She responds with a soft reassuring smile

The expression on your face turns to a mix of confusion and worry as you speak up again
"Where is he?" You ask again

"Far from here, trust me Y/n you are safe now." She says as she places her soft hand on your knee

You shake your head as your mother speaks up

"He can't hurt you anymore." She says

"He never hurt me!" You shout up at her then face the nurse

You hear your mother sigh as she looks down

"He never hurt me, please just...tell me he's alright!" You say, tears now building up in your eyes

The nurse looks at you sympathetically as she speaks
"Y/n...I could only imagine how you are feeling right now. But I need you to know that everything you may have felt before for Moon Jo was not exactly true. Moon Jo is a bad person, a murderer who had no real intentions for your upmost safety at hand."

"That's not tru-" you start as tears roll down your face, only for her to continue

"He kidnapped, abused and manipulated you Y/n." She says

"No-" you say as you shake your head

"There was no telling when he could have done to you next. Due to everything we've gathered about you're particular situation, the doctors have come to the conclusion that you've developed a sense of Stockholm syndrome towards Moon Jo over your time with him in captivity.." She says

You continue to shake your head as you look up at your mother then back at the nurse
"That's not true, he would never hurt me! He never hurt me!" You say

"Y/n.." she says as she comes closer, grabbing your hand gently as you look up at her with eyes flooded over with tears

"We've found multiple bruises all over your body, beside where you've been shot." She says

"That's...that's not.." you begin only to fumble over your words as you start to cry harder

Your mother looks up at the nurse as she looks back, then back down to you
