-Burned Bridges-

282 AC
Kings Landing

Rhaegar, Elia, and the King had returned to the capitol several days after Valyriaʻs return. Valyria was told by Varys that Rhaegar had won the tourney . . . And crowned Lyanna Stark, his queen of love and beauty. Valyria was furious that Rhaegar would dishonor Elia in such away. Sure, the two princesses werenʻt the closest but Valyria did care for her good-sister. Valyria had avoided and ignored Rhaegar from his return onwards, it lasted for four months before Rhaegar and Valyria talked to one another.

When his nagging and complaining became too much for her, she dragged him into his room. "Why are you ignoring me, Sen? Ever since we got back you havenʻt said a word to me-" "Are you fucking mad?! What in seven hells were you thinking?! Naming Lyanna Stark your queen of love and beauty over your wife. Elia just gave you a healthy son even though you rode right past her at that tourney!" Valyria spat at him. Despite her anger being focused on Rhaegarʻs behavior, she was also upset about what had happened that night with her father.

Rhaegar sighed, "You don't understand, Sen. The Prince who is promised was prophesied to be born from mother and fatherʻs line. He will be the song of ice and fire, but he wonʻt do it alone. The dragon must have three heads, just as Aegon conquered Westeros with Rhaenys and Visenya." Valyria stared at Rhaegar bewildered as to what he had just said.

Rhaegar stroked his silver hair back, "Sen, Elia canʻt have any more children, and we have never been in love, friends yes, but never love. But Lyanna . . . She is the ice and I am the fire, we are meant for each other." he said, dreamily. Valyria couldnʻt believe what she was hearing.

"Are you mad?! You would risk everything: your wife, your children, Viserys, Mother, me, our family, your rights to the throne, and your life, over this prophecy? Lyanna Stark is to marry Robert Baratheon. How are you going to be with your soulmate, with him in the way? The Starks wonʻt stand for polygamy, and Robert wonʻt stand for you stealing his bride." Valyria yelled at Rhaegar. The Dragon Prince stood steadfast, he refused to bend to his sisterʻs reason. Knowing she could not get through his thick head, Valyria turned on her heel and huffed, striding out the door and slamming it shut.

After that day Rhaegar and Valyria did not speak to each other. It had been many months since then and Rhaegar and Elia had stayed in the capital due to Eliaʻs fragile health. Rhaegar had left four days ago and a raven had returned that morning informing the Small Council of Rhaegarʻs abduction of Lyanna Stark. Valyria had overheard the conversation on her way to her sword lessons and had been so furious that Ser Barristan had her spar with the squires. Causing them all to leave the ring with small cuts and lots of bruises.

"What is it with him and that fucking prophecy?" Valyria ranted to Jaime as they walked through the Red Keep. "Prophecies, dreams, and visions are all prickly and sometimes dangerous things. Why he thinks he has it figured out is beyond me." Jaime found it slightly amusing to see Valyria rant out like this, she normally either yelled at you if she was mad or held a normal conversation when she wasnʻt. Jaime mistakenly let out a small chuckle, causing Valyria to turn around and face him. "Is something funny, Ser?" she narrowed her eyes, "Not at all, my princess. Itʻs just that Iʻve never seen you like this before." Valyria raised a brow, "Normally when you are this worked up about something, you would be yelling at someone, but instead, here you are ranting to me . . . it's quite amusing."

Valyria glared at Jaime who still smirked in amusement. She sneakily edged her foot behind Jaimeʻs knee and yanked it forward sending him to the ground. "What in seven hells was that for?" he asked slowly standing up. "Because I found it quite amusing," she smirked at him before promptly walking away from him.

The next day Valyria had gotten up early for her sword lesson with Prince Lewin. They sparred for about an hour before Jaime came and the elder knight had Valyria spar with him, ending in a draw. Jaime was helping Valyria off the ground when Ser Barristan came running towards them. "Ser Barristan." Valyria greeted, "My Princess." He bowed back. "Prince Lewin, Ser Jaime, we have a situation that needs tending to." The two knights looked at Ser Barristan confused but followed him anyway; Valyria did too, they walked from the training yard to the front of the Red Keep. Where they were met with Brandon Stark and his four companions.

"Rhaegar! Come out and die, you coward!" he called out. "Heʻs not here, Stark," Valyria said calmly. The Wild Wolf turned his cold grey eyes on Valyria, he stalked up to her with Ser Barristan and Prince Lewin blocking him. "Then where is he? Where is my sister, Targaryen?" he said with hatred in his voice. "Watch your tongue, that is the Princess of the Seven Kingdoms you're speaking to." Ser Barristan growled.

The large doors of the Throne room opened and Aerys Targaryen walked out, flanked by Ser Jonothor Darry and Ser Gerold Hightower. A look of terror crossed Brandonʻs face as he gazed upon the Mad King. "Kingsguard! Arrest these traitors for treason and send word to their fathers. So they might answer for these charges." Aerys said, coldly. Walking back into the Throne room. The five men were quickly subdued and taken to the dungeons, and the ravens were sent calling the menʻs fathers to the capital.

Two days later, Lord Rickard Stark and the fathers of the other men arrived in Kings Landing. They marched into the throne room for their audience with the King. Valyria, Viserys, and their mother were all present, along with all of the Kingsguard. "Your Grace, I have come to ask for the release of my son, Brandon," Rickard said, in an attempt to remain firm but also appease the King. "Your son and his . . . companions, plotted the murder of the crown prince and threatened the princess. What say you in your son's defense?" Rickard paused and thought for a moment. "I demand a trial by combat." Valyria looked wide-eyed, at the Lord of Winterfell, and then to Jaime who looked equally as stunned. "Granted," Aerys said with a smirk.
