-We Have a New King-

283 AC
Kings Landing

Valyria warmed one of the black cells for a fortnight, during her stay Lord Stark visited her asking if she knew where his sister was. After telling him what he wanted to know she was only visited by the guards who brought her food. On one day though Robert did visit, with two of his guards behind him.

He closed the barred door behind him. Valyria stood once she saw who it was, Robert promptly shoving her into the wall. "She's dead! . . . All because of you, Targaryens." He bellowed at her. Valyria stood up again, though more slowly due to the pain in her back from the shove. "I'm so sorry, Rob-" she didn't get to finish. Robert's hand collided with her left cheek, sending Valyria staggering back. "I don't want your sympathies, dragon bitch! . . . I should have you executed for this and leave your head on a spike for the world to see what happens to Targaryens! But Jon wants you kept alive for gods know why. As does Lord Tywin." The stag lord yelled, briskly walking to the door and exiting. Valyria clutched her cheek in an attempt to stop the stinging sensation. No one visited her after that.

Until she was abruptly awoken one evening (she assumed but she didn't know, as the black cells allowed no light other than that of the torches adorning the walls) as her wrists were shackled, and she was dragged from the dungeons to the throne room where her shackles were removed and she was dropped to the ground rather harshly.

She stayed on the ground for a moment, sore and tired, bruises littering her body from her fight during the sack, along with the ones Robert had left in his wake. She felt a hand rest on her shoulder causing her to jump and turn her head, she then gazed into the bright emerald eyes she had grown fond of.

Anger coursed through his veins, as Jaime was barely able to contain his rage at the sight of his battered friend. Valyria no longer wore the black and red armor of the Targaryens, but tattered brown breeches and a white tunic; her hair was no longer in its normal updo, but rather fell loosely around her face and to her mid-back; dark bags hung under her eyes, from presumably many sleepless nights; and bruises littered her body, including a large dark one on her left cheek. Jaime knew exactly who had struck her, and immediately felt hatred towards Robert. No King Robert.

After Valyria came to her senses once more she noticed that the throne room was filled with people of noble houses from all over the Seven Kingdoms. She then realized that Grand Maester Pycelle, Lord Varys, and Jaime were all kneeling to her left, she also noticed that they were all situated in between two of the many large pillars that supported the high arched ceiling of the throne room.

She quickly scanned the room looking for anyone she knew, she first spotted Robert sitting on the Iron Throne with Jon Arryn to his right, she then looked upon the crowd seeing Robert's two younger brothers, Stannis and Renly, she also saw Lord Tywin talking to some of his bannermen. And then she saw her, long golden curls flowing to her waist and the same bright green eyes Jaime had. Cersei walked elegantly towards her twin and dear friend. Once she reached them she kneeled so that she was face to face with Valyria, she then threw her arms around her friend pulling her ever closer into her embrace despite Valyria's apparent filth from her time in the black cells.

" It's good to see you again," Cersei said into Valyria's hair. "And you, my dear friend," Valyria whispered back. Cersei then pulled away. " What are they going to do with you?" She asked. The Targaryen girl looked at the floor stating " I don't know." "Well, whatever happens, Jaime and I will always be here for you," Cersei said proudly. A small smile danced on Valyria's lips at the words of her close friend. "I know."

The noise in the hall abruptly stopped and both Cersei and Valyria turned to see what was going on. Jon Arryn had moved to step before the bustling crowd " My lords, my ladies, I thank you all for attending this celebration in honor of our new king." He stated. It was only then that Valyria noticed the golden hand pin on Jon Arryn's left collar, it was surprising, to say the least, she thought it would have been Lord Tywin but she supposed it made sense for the Lord of the Vale to have been chosen by Robert. " The king would like to say a few words before the feast begins," said Lord Arryn before moving back to his post beside the new king. Hearing this Cersei gave one final glance to her brother and her friend before moving back into the crowd of nobles. Next Robert stood he wore a robe rather than his stag armor that Valyria had seen him in on the night of the sack, and on his head rested a gold crown with what appeared to be antlers protruding from the main circlet. " Yes, yes thank you all for coming." Robert's voice echoed through the room. He then walked towards where Valyria, Jaime, Varys, and Pycelle kneeled. He stopped in front of them. " These . . . individuals served the Mad King." He paused " But because I am a merciful king they shall all be pardoned." Robert continued " I, Robert of House Baratheon, First of my name, King of the Andals and the First men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, do pardon Grand Maester Pycelle, Lord Varys, and Ser Jaime Lannister of all misdoings under the Mad King." Valyria froze upon not hearing her name mentioned, maybe Robert got his wish and she was to be executed.

" I also hereby reinstate them to their former positions of Grand Maester, Master of Whisperers, and member of the Kingsguard." The king finished, he then turned to look at the princess kneeling beneath him. " I also hereby pardon Valyria Targaryen of the crimes her family committed against the realm." Though Roberts' voice turned rather sour towards the end of his sentence. Upon hearing those words the Targaryen let out a sigh of relief. She was safe, for now at least.
