Valyria was on the floor with a now 3-year-old Joffrey, handing him a wooden lion. As Cersei sipped wine from a chair while watching her young son. A knock was heard at the door and Valyria got up with a groan and opened the large mahogany panel. "My Lord hand, what can I help you with?" Valyria greeted the dutiful Jon Arryn. "I was hoping to speak with both you and the queen." Valyria nodded and moved out of the way allowing the Hand of the King to enter.
Cersei looked irritated at the disturbance, while Joffrey paid no mind to the adults in the room. "We received word from your father, your grace. The Lannister fleet was burned at anchor in Lannisport. By Euron and Victarion Greyjoy." Valyria was shocked the Lannister fleet was one of the best in the Seven Kingdoms, second only to maybe that of the Redwynes and possibly rivaled by the Velaryons at the height of their power. "We also received word that Balon Greyjoy has crowned himself King of the Iron Islands and ordered the attack on Lannisport." The hand continued.
'War that's all that could come out of this, Lord Tywin won't stand this insult.' Valyria thought. "The King has called the banners, Lord Stannis is on route to the Reach from Dragonstone. And a raven has been sent to Lord Eddard Stark. I regret having to bring such news. And Ser Valyria, a war council, has been called." The Lord of the Vale finished. "Thank you, my lord," Valyria said bowing to Jon Arryn and Cersei before turning on her heel and marching out of the room.
Robert was able to gather lords from across the continent to rally behind him. Lord Stannis and Lord Paxter Redwyne destroyed the Greyjoy's Iron fleet at the Fair isle straight, allowing the King's forces, including Valyria passage to the Iron Islands. Robert sent Stannis to capture Great Wyk, the largest of the islands, and Ser Barristan to Old Wyk. The other lords attacked the other islands, while the King went for Pyke the seat of House Greyjoy.
