the problem was - there was no friend's house Jungkook was supposed to go to. non of them knew that he was gay and he wasn't planning on telling them. too scared they would react the same way as his parents.
so he walked through the city without a destination in mind. he found a bench under a tree that was still pretty dry. he sat down, head in the palms of his hands. he was soaked to the bones. god knows how long he was sitting there. since he didn't know where to go, he didn't feel like walking around much. he had eaten all of his sandwiches but those were for lunch and now it was already after 7.
he couldn't even cry anymore. he had used up all of his tears. there was no use in crying anyway. the city, infamous for it's pretty looks during the summer and sunsets, was gray in gray. not a single patch of blue in the sky. it was as if it was crying for him.
Jungkook packed his bags. his hunger leading him to a nearby convenience store. he pulled out his wallet while walking in, checking the amount of money in it. the same 545.86$, nothing was stolen.
he was pretty much alone in the store, an old man enjoying a cup of ramen at one of the tables the only other customer. the scent of the steaming food made Jungkook even hungrier. he took one for himself, walking to the counter while tapping on his phone. his parents haven't even called once.
"was your friend not at home?"
Jungkook froze at the familiar voice. this couldn't be real. life was absolutely against him. he looked up and met eyes with a confused Taehyung. so he worked here ...
"no."
"so you're on your way back home?"
"uhm ... no."
Jungkook hated lying. it was not like he wasn't good at it - he hid a part of himself all those years. but knowing that the other person thought a way about him that wasn't true just didn't feel right. he was rather honest than getting caught up in lies.
"i ran away from home. it's just .... i ... uhm"
he bit his lip. rather honest and stick to the truth? or lie and dodge the possibility of being hated by another person?
"you don't have to say what happened. as long as you didn't kill a person, i think i can handle it."
Taehyung chuckled while Jungkook released the air he was holding in. he relaxed again after tensing up about the question. all good.
"you know my offer still stands of coming over to my place? you're completely soaked, you're gonna get sick."
Jungkook hesitated a moment but nodded right after. he was tired and his wet clothes stuck to his body in the most uncomfortable way.
"okay. my shift will end in about 15 minutes - can you wait that long? i was gonna order pizza later - do you still want your ramen?"
