they quietly walked besides each other. leaving no space between them so they could both fit under Taehyung's umbrella. the store wasn't far from his house.

the older didn't know what to say. he wasn't an introvert but not particularly good at starting conversations. or comforting someone. what do you even say to a guy that just ran away from home and you have no idea why?

he was glad when they finally reached his home. he fished the key out of the deep pockets of his raincoat and unlocked the door. they were welcomed by a wave of warmth. and Taehyung's cat. it snuggled up against it's owner's legs, like they haven't seen each other since 2 weeks.

"hi snowball, you're little friend is back."

Jungkook had crouched down to unzip his sports bag letting his cat explore the new location. as soon as the cats saw each other they started playing again.

"i have no guest room so you'll have to sleep on the couch, sorry. the bathroom is on the right. wait here i will bring you the bedding."

before Jungkook could even say a word, Taehyung was already up the stairs. was it so he could have more time to think about how to talk to a guy he knew half of his life but still somehow knew nothing about? or to clean up his room incase said guy wanted a house tour? ether none or all of the above. we will never know.

Taehyung rummaged through his closet until he found a clean blanket and pillow. it wasn't that easy, he hasn't done his laundry in quite a while.

when he came back to the livingroom, Jungkook sat cross legged on the grey rug, playing with the cats. it was a wonder snowball hasn't bitten or scratched him yet. that cat had something against people that weren't Taehyung.

"i put your bedding on the couch. oh and what type of pizza do you want?"

Taehyung called the pizza place and in no time they were munching on mozzarella and pepperoni pizza on the living room floor. the older had lit up the fireplace. it was quite cold for the time of year.

"So what have you been up to?"

it was already dark out. raindrops leaving small trails on the window. the ocean's waves rolling on to the shore. the water the deepest shade of blue. the middle school friends sat in the light of the fire, their cats right besides them. Jungkook bit in his last piece of pizza. he shrugged his shoulders.

"not much."

"not much ... just running away from home. you know, the daily things."

they both chuckled. the younger playfully hit Taehyung's arm. it felt just like in their old school days. when everything was a lot easier.

"Sorry I didn't mean it that way."

"It's fine ... you've always been like this - lowkey mean but no one is ever able to be mad at you."
