24th Star: Nightmares And Epiphanies

GLOZELLE COLLINS

I COULDN'T breathe properly as I stare at Aegean as he choke me. I can see in his eyes the rage and thirst to kill me. I don't understand. What is happening? Did I fail to get him back?

"I will kill you!" he said with emphasis as he kept on clutching his hands on my neck.

"Shit!"

I was catching my breath and trying to calm myself. It's just a dream, Glozelle. It's just a dream.

I opened my eyes and saw him standing in front of me as he points a gun on me. His eyes are full of rage just like how he had it inside my dreams.

"Hello, Glozelle. It's time to say goodbye."

"Ae—"

I didn't managed to finish a word when he pulled the trigger without any hesitations. I can feel my chest tightening and I'm running out of breath. Why?

"No!"

I woke up in hurry and immediately get up to make it all stop. What is happening? Why do these kind of scenes occur in my dreams? What the hell is going on? I don't want this to happen.

"But it will still happen..."

I shivered when I heard Aegean's voice in my ear. He pulled me from the back and showed me how he holds my dagger and point it on my throat.

"Any last words, Glozelle?"

I tried to let go but he did what he had to do. I can't believe he can do this. How could he kill me? Why did he do this?

"Stop, stop, stop! Please stop!!!"

I screamed aloud in repeat. My tears are falling down from my eyes as I cover my ears and try to let it stop. I don't know why it keeps on happening to me. I don't know why do I need to suffer like this. I didn't even do anything to suffer like this.

"Glozelle? Glozelle, open the door! What's happening? Are you okay?"

I felt scared even more when I heard him calling my name and banging loudly on my door. Am I having a nightmare again? I don't know if I can take it anymore. I've never been so vulnerable. I've never been so scared before. I used to be the tough girl. What did I do to deserve all these traumatic experiences?

"Glozelle, it's me Aegean. Open the door, tell me what is happening!" his voice sounds like he's panicking.

"Get away from me! Please, stop and let me wake up!"

I covered my face with my hands as tears continue to come out. I could hear the door opening and his footsteps rushing to me.

"Hey, what happened?" he asked.

He tried to touch me but I resisted. I looked up and saw him looking so worried.

"What's wrong? It's me, Glozelle."

He sat beside me and touched my face. His eyes started glowing like what I saw on the battle field earlier. It is him. I reached for his arms and hugged him tight.

"What happened? I heard you screaming."

He caressed my hair and gently hugged me back afterwards. I felt comfortable now and my heart is at peace because I'm finally awake. I'm not having nightmares anymore.

"I was having multiple nightmares..."

"Don't worry, those are just nightmares. I'm here, I will protect you."
