AEGEAN HALE

ZENITH fell down into the ground, completely lifeless. She did not survive the extreme power we exerted. Even if I decided to not collaborate with Glozelle, she still wouldn't survive Glozelle's deadly daggers and arrows. That was Glozelle's most dangerous skill that she used in today's war. I find it smart that she uses lightning to manipulate the weapons she's very fond of.

"Well done," Glozelle said and smiled at me.

I gave her a painful smile and looked at Amoux and Alpha Lefiya below. It feels like I lost another integral part of me and I would never get it back no matter how hard I would try to.

"Join them, Aegean. I will deal with everything that needs to be dealt with," she said and gave me an assuring smile.

"Thank you."

I went back into the ground to join my brother and mother as they mourn for our alpha. Everything happened fast and I did not even had the chance to defend and save him. Now, I feel bad. What is power when you couldn't protect those you love the most? The war may be over and we won but I feel devastated. This isn't the kind of end I wanted.

"Father!" I hear Amoux scream as he hold tight on our father's dead body.

"I'm sorry, I was too late..." I apologized, my voice cracking.

"Don't blame yourself, son. We never wanted this to happen, it is not your fault!" Alpha Lefiya replied and hugged me tight.

I could feel my eyes watering and my heart getting heavy as I stare at my father's dead face. He fought and sacrificed himself for the safety of everyone. He had a premonition. He knew he was going to die and that is the reason for his speech earlier this day.

"We won, but I feel betrayed!" I complained as I sit on the floor, crying.

"Hush now, Aegean. There is nothing we could do now."

The pack took the Alpha's body to get it to the headquarters. Amoux helped the alpha female to stand up and guided her to the car. I volunteered to drive them back to the headquarters. If there are people here who are more devastated than me, it is them. I could not risk losing my family members again. I don't know what to do with my life anymore if that happens.

Before entering Amoux's car, I approached Blake and Cnidus to give them some orders and let them take over what needs to be done. Part of the work that needs to be done is to burn the other party's bodies and gather ours for the mass grave funeral.

"Make sure to update me in case you will have problems, okay? We will send other men to help you. Please take care of Glozelle, too. I know she doesn't needs to be taken care of but please do keep an eye on her."

"Alright, Aegean. We will do our best. Take care and drive safely!" Cnidus responded and acted to be in charge.

I nodded and took the driver's seat as Amoux and the alpha female are both in the back seat, comforting each other. We are not the only ones who lost our loved one. The whole pack lost its alpha. Now, I am very sure that Amoux would be appointed to be the Alpha soon. That just means that he would be needing me to be his Beta. I could not turn it down now; not now that he is mourning.

The trip was quick and silent. It is like one of those times that you wouldn't like to talk to one because you just lost the love of your life. When we arrived at the headquarters, two pack members assisted my two passengers and brought them inside to check if they have bruises and injuries. They wanted me to come inside too but I chose to take a separate way and went straight to the cabin.

"Shit!" I cursed when I entered the cabin.

I couldn't contain my feelings. It is painful. I already lost my biological parents when I was young because of a war. I can't believe I lost another parent because of another war. Why do wars kept on happening! Can't we all just be contented with what we have and then when we have problems just deal with it and walk away? Why do we always need a bloodshed?
