YOU CANNOT KEEP CHOOSING SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT CHOOSE YOU. Because your person is going to be your person for the rest of your life. Not just when you are young and things are perfect, but when things get messy and you make mistakes.

You have to make sure you have someone by your side that wants to be there. Someone who wants to support you and encourage you. Someone who gives you just as much effort as you give them. Someone who wants to hear your laugh and make breakfast with you and listen to all of your dumb jokes for twenty or thirty or fifty years. Because there are difficult things in your life, really hard and haunted things that make it heavy and hurtful at times. But love should not be one of those things. Love should hold your hand and help you brave those storms. Love should be your safe place. Do not give the best parts of yourself to someone who doesn't see the value in what they are receiving. You cannot settle for anyone who doesn't look at you and know—without a doubt—that they want to stay.

Caroline chose Matt. Enola knew this. But she was still helplessly in love with her and promised that she would still hold her hand while braving these untamed storms. Especially now that the girl she loved was in the hospital after a horrible car accident. She deserved better than someone who only wants the best parts of her. If only she could see that. Perhaps that would heal what had deeply damaged her self worth.

"I looked everywhere," Enola huffed.

"What do you think? Someone stole it?" Elena inquired, jabbing the house key into the lock.

"Someone definitely stole my stuff," Enola announced. "It had all my good sweats in it."

"After you change into something more comfortable and I check on Jeremy, Stefan said he would pick us up and take us to the hospital." Elena explained shortly, pushing the door open.

"Are you sure you should be the one checking on Jeremy?" Enola quirked a brow as they entered the house. "He kinda hates you right now."

"Thank you for the reminder." Elena rolled her eyes before calling up the stairs. "Jeremy? You up."

Before they could get a proper answer a strangled cry could be heard from the kitchen. The wonder twins shared a look of worry and fear before they slowly began to walk down the long hallway. At first, they noticed nothing out of the ordinary. And then, Uncle John crawled around the kitchen counter, leaving a trail of blood behind. Elena quickly grabbed their home phone to call for help as Enola grabbed a dish towel off the counter to stop the bleeding.
