HERE IS A SIMPLE TRUTH: the people that we meet at the wrong time are actually just the wrong people. You never meet the right people at the wrong time because the right people are timeless. The right people make you want to throw away the plans that you originally had for one and follow them into the hazy unknown without a single glance backwards. The right people don't make you wonder about whether or not you want to be with them; you just know. You know that any adventure that you had originally planned out for your future isn't going to be half as incredible as the adventures you could have by their side. That no matter what you thought that you wanted before, this is better. Everything is better since they came along.

Enola knew Caroline was the one. She knew this simple truth. But she also knew that it was nothing but a pipe dream. Especially when she learned that Caroline was working with Katherine. It hurt her deep down to her very soul. But she knew that there was a reason. There was always a reason for why people betrayed the ones they claimed to love. So she held onto the hope that there was a really good reason behind all of this. Because that would mean that they could put all of this behind them and move on. Together. Though that was unlikely with the way things were going at this very moment. It was enough to make her want to gouge her own eyes out.

"Do you still care about Katherine?" Elena questioned.

"Don't do this. Don't turn this into something that it's not." Stefan sighed.

"So this isn't up for discussion," Elena nodded. "That's what you're saying?"

"No, I'm saying that this isn't up for discussion right now because we have ears on us." Stefan rebutted, narrowing his eyes at Enola as she eavesdropped on their conversation with Caroline and Damon. They quickly looked away, but it had been obvious they were still listening. How could they not? They were all stuck doing charity work for The Historical Society Volunteer Picnic. Their fighting was the only remotely interesting part of this whole entire thing. Even if it was fake.

"Okay. When?" Elena inquired.

"I don't know," Stefan sighed.

"I saw her, Stefan." Elena huffed. "It's like we're the same person."

"How could you hate Katherine, like Enola, and love me?" Elena questioned.

"You're reaching. I'm not Damon." Stefan scoffed.

"How about we don't bring Damon into this right now?" Elena scowled.

"Only if you stop bringing Enola into this," Stefan shot back.
