THE FEMALE LEAD DIES. She dies to provide a plot twist. She dies to develop the narrative. She dies for cathartic effect. She dies because no one could think of what else to do with her. She dies because there weren't any better story ideas around. She dies because her death was the very best idea that anyone could come up with. She dies because the writer is bored.

And so, the female lead dies. The female lead dies so the male lead can be sad about it. The female lead dies so the male lead can suffer. She dies to give him a purpose. She dies so he can overcome his imaginary demons. She dies so he can lament her death. As he stands there—brimming with grief, brimming with life, brimming with death—the female lead lies there in silence. She dies for him. We watch it happen. We hear it happen. We come to know it well. She dies so that he can live. And that is the tragedy.

Enola is the female lead destined for death. She is a doppelgänger. A martyr. It wasn't fair. It wasn't right. Why should she have to die for the greater good? Was it really the greater good or did people just say that to justify her death? She didn't want a justification. She just wanted an honest answer. But she knew even that was too much to ask for.

"Okay, you have to understand I only know what I've picked up over the years and I don't know what's true and what's not true. That's the problem with all this vampire crap." Rose ranted. She had come to the Salvatore Boarding House offering her help. After Elijah had killed Trevor, walking away was not an option. "But Klaus, I know is real."

"Even his name sounds evil," Enola cringed.

"Who is he?" Elena questioned.

"He's one of the originals. He's a legend." Damon answered.

"He's from the first generation of vampires." Stefan explained.

"Like Elijah?" Elena frowned, tilting her head to the side.

"Elijah was the Easter Bunny compared to Klaus," Rose corrected.

"If Elijah is considered the Easter Bunny, I would hate to see what Klaus is capable of." Enola grumbled.

"Taking Elijah out was easy enough," Damon bragged. "Killing Klaus should be a piece of cake."

"Elijah was a foot soldier," Rose shot back. "Klaus is the real deal."

"Klaus is known to be the oldest," Stefan said.

"Okay, so you're saying that the oldest vampire in history wants us dead?" Elena blinked.
