Chapter 10: I Would Have Come

“I can’t face him Mira, he’s married.” I muttered in pure disgust. Who would do that? Apparently, it was the same someone who would have sex with a random girl in the men’s bathroom at a club. What kind of man would not only cheat on his wife, but cheats on her with a student? Thank God I was at least of legal age, or I could call him a pedophile as well an adulterer. I may as well paint a scarlet letter on his chest and a big fat W on mine for being the whore he cheated with.

“Come on Jade, you don’t know his circumstances. Maybe he’s unhappily married, I mean, it sounds like he was into you.” She commented casually, as if it were no big deal that I slept with my married teacher and almost did it again. This just keeps getting better. I already felt low enough. I didn’t need Mira’s unintentional reinforcements.

Alec just rolled his eyes at Mira and threw me an understanding glance. At least he was on my side. Although I doubt that if I ever had to meet with Rivers again, that I would be going in alone. I don’t think he likes the fact that Rivers used me, or that it almost happened again, on his watch. Nash was going to have a shit fit over this.

“What are we talking about?” Nash asked as he smiled at me and plopped in the chair next to me.

He looked at Mira, who had a wide mischievous grin on her face. Please Mira, don’t do this now, I begged silently. It wasn’t that I was going to keep this from him, because we had no secrets between us, except for one very important one, but he didn’t know that, did he? It was just that he would be very angry when he found out and his over-protectiveness would go into overdrive. I sighed at the thought. We still had to get through our sex class later this afternoon.

This was not going to go over well, I could guarantee it.

“What? What does everybody else know that I don’t?” He searched my eyes for answers that I really didn’t want to give him.

I felt bad, like I had betrayed him, even though we aren’t together anymore and hadn’t been in a long time. But our relationship was special, complicated, and we would always be in one another’s life. Just not in a ‘being together’ kind of way. It was too painful that way, we were better off as friends. Besides, I didn’t love him that way anymore. Maybe I never really did.

“Oh, it’s just that Jade almost screweded bathroom guy again… in his office.” Mira responded before words of explanation had a chance to leave my mouth and soften the blow. Nash seemed a bit unsettled by this, but not at all angry.
