3rd Pov

Jennifer dreaded waking up the next morning.
All she wanted to do was lay on her bed and not think about everything that happened.
It was Thursday so she didn't have to go to uni until Monday. But the merge was coming closer and closer.
She hadn't told Stephan or Elena yet about what Kai told her. That would mean she had to tell tell them he was here last night.

There was a soft knock on the door which Jennifer answered with a long grunt as she tossed the covers over her head.
From the sound of the footsteps she knew it was her sister.
The girl lifted the covers slightly and peaked at her.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

Elena took a sit on the bed beside her sister and nodded.
"How are you? I could hear what Kai was saying last night. I also saw you seemed hurt."

Elena's talent of reading into everything never ceased to amaze Jennifer.
She picked up pretty quickly on anyone's emotions. Well a part of them at this situation.
She contemplated telling her everything, but the guilt and embarrassment that were clouding her stopped her.

After a while she pulled the covers away and sat up on the bed.

"I am sorry you had to go through this." She managed to say.

"It's not your fault Jennifer." Elena assured and squeezed her hand.

Jennifer swallowed on her dry throat.Preparing for what she was about to say.
"Kai came to my room last night."

Elena's eyes widened instantly.
"Did he hurt you?"

She shook her head no.
"No. He wanted to tell me that he is going to merge with Luke. Apparently he found him after we left the school. He said Jo was safe for now." She explained.

Elena frowned.
"I don't understand. Why would Luke do that?"

Jennifer sighed and pressed her palms on her face
"Because Kai is for sure stronger than Jo. I think he wants to be sure Kai won't survive the merge.... But I am afraid he is stronger than Luke." Despite what happened she realized she didn't want Kai to die. But she didn't want to admit that.

Elena listened silently and seemed to be deep in thoughts.
"If Kai dies... How are we going to get Damon and Bonnie back?"

Jennifer responded with a dry chuckle.
"Why would he help us if he survived?"

Elena looked at her sister. Her eyes seemed desperate. She really hoped Kai would help.
That was something Jennifer and her sister had in common, she thought. Having hope in the wrong people and still hanging on that hope even when those people let them down.

"Kai won't die." She said after a while of silence. "I don't think he will at least." A part of her hoped that Luke would win the merge and the other part was afraid Kai would die.

"Jennifer" Elena said softly. "Is there any other reason you are like this?"

Even though she expected that question it still made her anxious. This was her chance to tell her the truth. Jennifer really wanted to say it. To get it off her chest.

"If I tell you... You promise me it will stay between us?" Her eyes found hers for assurance.

She put a hand over her shoulder and brought her closer.
"I will never judge you Jennifer."

Her tone and approach to the subject made her relax and it made it easier to talk about it.
"I wasn't honest about Kai... back in the prison world we grew a bit closer. I mean in a more sexual way."
